4.1. Ports and Buttons
- DC-IN Socket: Connects to the power adapter.
- Power Switch: Turns the router on or off.
- Reset Button: Press and hold for 5-10 seconds to restore factory default settings.
- WPS Button: Initiates Wi-Fi Protected Setup for easy device connection.
- WAN Port: Connects to your modem or internet service provider's network.
- LAN Ports (1-4): Connects to wired devices such as computers, gaming consoles, or network storage.
5. Setup Guide
5.1. Initial Hardware Connection
- Position the Router: Place the router in a central location in your home, away from obstructions and other electronic devices that may cause interference.
- Connect the Modem: Connect one end of the provided Ethernet cable to the WAN port (blue) on your ASUS RT-AX55 router and the other end to your modem's LAN port.
- Power On: Connect the power adapter to the DC-IN socket on the router and plug it into a power outlet. Press the Power Switch to turn on the router.
- Wait for Indicators: Allow a few minutes for the router to boot up. The power LED and WAN LED should turn solid.
5.2. Network Configuration
- Connect to the Router:
- Wired Connection: Connect your computer to one of the router's LAN ports (yellow) using an Ethernet cable.
- Wireless Connection: Search for the default Wi-Fi network name (SSID) printed on the label on the bottom of your router. Connect to this network using the default password.
- Access the Web Interface: Open a web browser and type http://router.asus.com or http://192.168.1.1 into the address bar.
- Login: Enter the default username and password (usually "admin" for both, or as specified on the router label).
- Follow Setup Wizard: The ASUS setup wizard will guide you through configuring your internet connection, Wi-Fi network name (SSID), and password. It is highly recommended to change the default login credentials for security.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Connecting Devices
- Wi-Fi Devices: On your device (smartphone, laptop, tablet), search for available Wi-Fi networks, select your configured network name (SSID), and enter your Wi-Fi password.
- Wired Devices: Connect devices like desktop computers, smart TVs, or gaming consoles directly to the router's LAN ports using Ethernet cables.

- AiProtection: Provides commercial-grade network security, parental controls, and blocks malicious sites. Access and configure this feature via the router's web interface under "AiProtection".
- AiMesh: Create a seamless whole-home Wi-Fi network by connecting multiple compatible ASUS routers.To set up AiMesh, navigate to the "AiMesh" section in the web interface or use the ASUS Router mobile app.

- Parental Controls: Manage internet access times and block specific content for connected devices. Found under "AiProtection" or "Parental Controls" in the web interface.
- Quality of Service (QoS): Prioritize network traffic for specific applications or devices (e.g., gaming, streaming) to ensure optimal performance. Configure in the "QoS" section.
7. Maintenance
- Firmware Updates: Regularly check for and install firmware updates via the router's web interface (Administration > Firmware Upgrade). This ensures optimal performance, security, and new features.
- Cleaning: Gently wipe the router's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols. Ensure ventilation holes are clear of dust.
- Restarting: If you experience network issues, try restarting the router by unplugging the power adapter for 10 seconds and then plugging it back in.
