Introduction
This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your NuFlush Caroma Toilet Adjustable Fill Valve, model #WD3121US. Designed as a replacement for Caroma QuietFlow and Caravelle one-piece toilet fill valves, this adjustable unit ensures efficient and quiet water refilling for your toilet tank. Please read these instructions carefully before beginning installation to ensure proper function and longevity of the product.
Key Features
- Adjustable Height: Easily adjusts from approximately 8 to 12 inches to fit various toilet tank heights.
- Quiet Operation: Engineered for quiet water refilling.
- Water-Saving Design: Helps maintain efficient water usage.
- Universal Fit: Compatible with most standard 7/8-inch toilet inlets.
- Durable Construction: Made with brass and other robust materials for long-lasting performance.
Setup and Installation
Before you begin, ensure you have the necessary tools: a sponge or towel, a bucket, and an adjustable wrench.
- Turn Off Water Supply: Locate the water supply valve behind or near the toilet and turn it clockwise until the water flow stops completely.
- Flush Toilet: Flush the toilet to empty the tank. Hold the flush handle down to drain as much water as possible. Use a sponge or towel to remove any remaining water from the tank.
- Disconnect Water Supply Line: Place a bucket under the toilet tank's fill valve connection. Use an adjustable wrench to loosen and remove the water supply line from the bottom of the old fill valve.
- Remove Old Fill Valve: Inside the tank, loosen the large nut that secures the old fill valve to the bottom of the tank. Remove the old fill valve from the tank.
- Adjust New Fill Valve Height: The NuFlush fill valve features an adjustable height mechanism. Locate the small clip on the lower part of the valve stem. Pull this clip out, then slide the upper section of the valve up or down to match the height of your previous fill valve or to achieve the desired water level in your tank. Once adjusted, re-insert the clip to lock the height.
- Install New Fill Valve: Insert the new NuFlush fill valve into the hole at the bottom of the toilet tank. Ensure the rubber washer is properly seated on the threaded shank inside the tank. From underneath the tank, hand-tighten the large plastic nut onto the threaded shank. Do not overtighten.
- Connect Refill Tube: Attach the small refill tube from the top of the fill valve to the overflow pipe in the center of the tank. Ensure it is securely placed.
- Reconnect Water Supply Line: Reconnect the water supply line to the bottom of the new fill valve. Hand-tighten first, then use a wrench to tighten an additional quarter turn. Do not overtighten.
- Turn On Water Supply: Slowly turn the water supply valve counter-clockwise to restore water flow to the toilet tank.
- Check for Leaks: Observe the fill valve and all connections for any leaks. If leaks occur, gently tighten the connections.

Operating Instructions
Once installed, the NuFlush fill valve operates automatically. After each flush, the valve will open to refill the toilet tank to the pre-set water level, then shut off. The small refill tube ensures that the toilet bowl is also refilled to its proper level.
To adjust the water level in the tank after installation, you may need to repeat step 5 from the installation section. Turn off the water supply, flush the toilet, then adjust the height of the fill valve. A higher valve setting will result in a higher water level in the tank, and vice versa. Ensure the water level is below the top of the overflow pipe to prevent continuous running.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance can extend the life of your fill valve and prevent common toilet issues.
- Periodic Inspection: Annually inspect the fill valve for any signs of wear, cracks, or mineral buildup.
- Cleaning: If you notice slow filling or incomplete shut-off, mineral deposits may be affecting the valve. Turn off the water supply, remove the fill valve, and gently clean any visible mineral buildup with a soft brush and mild cleaner. Rinse thoroughly before reinstallation.
- Check Refill Tube: Ensure the refill tube is not kinked or obstructed, as this can affect bowl refill.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Toilet runs continuously | Water level too high; faulty flapper; debris in valve. | Adjust fill valve height to lower water level. Check and replace flapper if necessary. Clean fill valve for debris. |
| Toilet fills slowly | Low water pressure; clogged fill valve. | Check water supply valve is fully open. Clean fill valve for mineral buildup. |
| Toilet does not fill | Water supply off; fill valve obstructed. | Ensure water supply valve is open. Check for severe clogs or damage to the fill valve. |
| Bowl does not refill | Refill tube kinked or disconnected. | Ensure refill tube is properly connected to the overflow pipe and is not kinked. |
