Setup and Installation

1. Choosing a Mounting Method

The U-Com 16 offers two primary mounting options for your helmet: a clamp mount or an adhesive mount. Select the method that best suits your helmet type and preference.

Clamp Mount Installation

  1. Loosen the screws on the clamp mount.
  2. Slide the clamp between the outer shell and the inner padding of your helmet, ensuring a secure fit.
  3. Tighten the screws to firmly secure the clamp mount to the side of the helmet.
  4. Slide the U-Com 16 unit onto the clamp mount until it clicks into place.

Adhesive Mount Installation

  1. Clean the desired mounting area on the side of your helmet thoroughly with an alcohol wipe and let it dry completely.
  2. Peel off the protective backing from the adhesive mount.
  3. Firmly press the adhesive mount onto the cleaned area of the helmet for at least 30 seconds. Allow 24 hours for the adhesive to cure before use.
  4. Slide the U-Com 16 unit onto the adhesive mount until it clicks into place.

2. Speaker and Microphone Installation

Install the HD speakers and microphone inside your helmet for optimal audio performance.

  1. Attach the speakers to the inside of the helmet, aligning them with your ears. Use the provided hook-and-loop fasteners.
  2. Position the microphone in front of your mouth, ensuring it is close but not touching. Choose between the boom microphone for open-face helmets or the wired microphone for full-face helmets.
  3. Route all cables neatly under the helmet padding to avoid interference and ensure comfort.
  4. Connect the speaker and microphone cables to the U-Com 16 unit.
