3. Setup and Installation

If your system experiences issues recognizing the drive after physical installation, you may need to disable the 3.3V power pin. A SATA-to-SATA power adapter cable is included for this purpose. Alternatively, non-conductive Kapton tape can be used to cover the third pin from the left on the wider power connector section. Power supply cables that have only 4 wires do not require this adapter.

4. Operating the Hard Drive

After physical installation and addressing any potential 3.3V power pin issues, power on your system. The operating system will detect the new hard drive.

4.1 Drive Initialization and Formatting

For the operating system to use the new hard drive, it must be initialized and formatted.

1. Open Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS/Linux).
2. Locate the unallocated space corresponding to your new 14TB drive.
3. Initialize the disk (usually as GPT for drives larger than 2TB).
4. Create a new simple volume or partition, assign a drive letter, and format it with your desired file system (e.g., NTFS for Windows, HFS+ for macOS, Ext4 for Linux).
5. Once formatted, the drive will be ready for use.
