5. Operating Instructions
- Power On: Locate the control switch on the top of the shredder head. Slide the switch to the 'ON' (Auto) position. The shredder is now ready for use.
- Shredding Documents: Insert up to 6 sheets of A4 paper (80g) into the paper feed slot. The shredder will automatically start and stop once the paper has passed through.
- Acceptable Items: The Rexel Secure X6 can shred paper, small staples, and small paper clips. Do not attempt to shred CDs/DVDs, credit cards, large paper clips, continuous forms, labels, transparencies, newspaper, or cardboard.
- Manual Reverse: In case of a paper jam, slide the control switch to the 'REV' (Reverse) position to clear the jam. Once cleared, return the switch to 'ON' (Auto).
- Overload/Overheat Protection: The shredder is equipped with protection features. If too much paper is inserted, the motor may stop. Remove excess paper and try again. If the shredder operates continuously for too long (approximately 3 minutes), it may overheat and automatically shut off. Allow it to cool down for at least 30 minutes before resuming operation.
- Emptying the Waste Bin: When the waste bin is full, the shredder will stop operating. Slide the control switch to the 'OFF' position, unplug the shredder, and carefully lift the shredder head off the bin to empty the shredded paper. Replace the head securely before plugging it back in and resuming operation. The transparent window allows you to monitor the fill level.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your shredder.
- Cleaning: Always unplug the shredder before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior of the shredder. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Oiling (Recommended): To maintain cutting performance and reduce noise, it is recommended to oil the shredder blades periodically, especially after emptying the waste bin several times or if performance decreases. Apply a small amount of shredder oil (specifically designed for paper shredders) across a sheet of paper and shred it. Do not use aerosol lubricants.
- Emptying the Waste Bin: Empty the waste bin regularly to prevent paper jams and ensure continuous operation.
