3. Operating Instructions

3.1. Powering the Radio

The radio offers five distinct power methods:

  1. 5000mAh Built-in Li-ion Battery: The primary rechargeable power source.
  2. 5V USB Input: For charging the internal battery and continuous operation.
  3. Hand Crank: Rotate the hand crank to generate power for the internal battery.
  4. Solar Panel: Expose the solar panel to direct sunlight to trickle charge the internal battery.
  5. 3 x AAA Batteries: An alternative power source when the internal battery is depleted.

3.2. Radio Functions (AM/FM/SW/NOAA)

Turn the 'Power' knob to activate the radio. Select the desired band (AM, FM, SW, or WX ALERT) using the 'BAND' button. Use the 'TUNE' knob to find stations. The LCD display will show the current frequency.

NOAA Weather Alert: This feature automatically scans and alerts you to severe weather events such as thunderstorms, hurricanes, and tsunamis. When an alert is detected, the radio will sound an alarm, providing critical time for preparation.

4. Maintenance

4.1. Cleaning

Wipe the radio with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the surface.

4.2. Storage

When not in use for extended periods, store the radio in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the internal battery is partially charged (around 50%) before storage to prolong its lifespan.

4.3. Battery Care

Regularly recharge the built-in Li-ion battery, even if the radio is not frequently used, to maintain battery health. If using AAA batteries, remove them if the radio will not be used for a long time to prevent leakage.

5. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the power knob is turned on. Check the battery level of the internal Li-ion battery. If depleted, try charging via USB, hand crank, or solar panel. Verify AAA batteries are correctly installed and not depleted.
  • Poor Radio Reception: Fully extend the telescopic antenna. Reposition the radio to a location with better signal. For NOAA channels, ensure you are within range of a broadcast tower.
  • No Sound or Distorted Sound: Adjust the volume knob. Ensure headphones are not plugged in if you expect sound from the speaker. If headphones are used, ensure they are fully inserted.
  • Phone Not Charging: Ensure the radio's internal battery has sufficient charge. Use the correct USB cable for your device. Some devices may require more power than the radio can provide, especially if the radio's battery is low.
