Setup Guide
1. Power Connection
Connect the provided power adapter to the DC IN jack on the back of the unit and then plug it into a standard AC wall outlet. The unit is designed to operate primarily on corded electric power.
2. Battery Backup Installation (Optional but Recommended)
For time and alarm settings backup during power outages, install one CR2032 battery (not included) into the battery compartment located on the bottom of the unit. Ensure correct polarity (+/-) when inserting the battery. The battery only provides backup for settings and does not power the display or functions during a power outage.
3. Initial Time Setting
Upon first power-up or after a prolonged power interruption without battery backup, the display may flash. The unit features an automatic DST system which may assist in setting the correct time. If manual adjustment is needed, refer to the "Setting Time and Date" section in the Operating Instructions.
Operating Instructions
Setting Time and Date
- Press and hold the TIME SET button. The hour digits will flash.
- Use the HOUR and MINUTE buttons to adjust the time.
- Press TIME SET again to confirm and exit time setting mode.
- The unit may automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time (DST). If manual adjustment is required, consult the specific button for DST (if available, otherwise it's automatic).
Radio Operation (AM/FM PLL Radio)
- Press the RADIO ON/OFF button to turn on the radio.
- Press the BAND button to switch between AM and FM bands.
- Manual Tuning: Press the TUNE + or TUNE - buttons to adjust the frequency step by step.
- Auto Scan: Press and hold the TUNE + or TUNE - buttons to automatically scan for the next available station.
- Setting Presets: To save a station, tune to your desired frequency. Press and hold the PRESET button until the preset number flashes. Use PRESET + or PRESET - to select a preset number, then press PRESET again to save.
- Recalling Presets: In radio mode, press the PRESET + or PRESET - buttons to cycle through saved stations.
- Antenna: Extend the external FM antenna for optimal FM reception. For AM reception, rotate the unit for best signal.
Setting and Using Alarms (Dual Alarms)
The HX-111CR features two independent alarms (AL1 and AL2).
- Setting Alarm Time: Press and hold the ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 button. The alarm hour digits will flash. Use the HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set the desired alarm time.
- Selecting Alarm Source: After setting the time, press the ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 button again to cycle through alarm modes: Buzzer, Radio, or OFF. The corresponding indicator will light up.
- Activating/Deactivating Alarm: Once set, the alarm is active. To deactivate, press the respective ALARM button until "OFF" is displayed or the alarm indicator turns off.
- Snooze Function: When an alarm sounds, press the SNOOZE button to temporarily silence it for approximately 9 minutes.
- Stopping Alarm: To stop the alarm completely until the next day, press the ALARM ON/OFF button or the RADIO ON/OFF button.
Sleep Timer Function
The sleep timer allows you to fall asleep to the radio, which will automatically turn off after a set period.
- While the radio is playing, press the SLEEP button repeatedly to cycle through available sleep times (e.g., 90, 60, 30, 15 minutes, OFF).
- The radio will play for the selected duration and then automatically turn off.
Aux-in Jack Usage
Connect an external audio device (e.g., smartphone, tablet) to the AUX-IN jack on the back of the unit using a 3.5mm audio cable (not included). The unit will automatically switch to AUX mode, allowing you to play audio from your connected device through the clock radio's speaker.
Display Brightness
If available, press the DIMMER button (or similar) to adjust the brightness level of the LED display. Cycle through available brightness settings to find your preferred level.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: Replace the CR2032 backup battery annually or when the time settings are lost during brief power interruptions.
- Storage: If storing the unit for an extended period, disconnect it from the power outlet and remove the backup battery.
