3. Setup Guide

3.1 Package Contents

Before beginning installation, ensure all components are present:

  • Evertech 16 Channel Hybrid DVR Unit
  • Pre-installed 8TB Hard Drive
  • Power Adapter
  • USB Mouse
  • User Manual (this document)

3.2 Hard Drive Installation (Pre-installed)

The 8TB hard drive is pre-installed in your DVR unit. No additional installation steps are required for the hard drive. If you need to replace or upgrade the hard drive in the future, refer to the detailed instructions provided in the full technical manual or contact customer support.

3.3 Connecting Your DVR

Follow these steps to connect your DVR system:

  1. Connect Cameras: Connect your AHD, TVI, CVI, or Analog cameras to the 'VIDEO IN' BNC ports (V1-V16) on the rear panel of the DVR.
  2. Connect Monitor: Connect a monitor to the DVR using either the HDMI or VGA port.
  3. Connect Audio (Optional): If using audio-enabled cameras or external microphones, connect them to the 'AUDIO IN' ports. Connect speakers to the 'A-OUT' port for audio output.
  4. Connect Network (Optional): For remote viewing and network access, connect an Ethernet cable from the DVR's LAN port to your router.
  5. Connect USB Devices: Plug the included USB mouse into one of the USB ports. You can also connect a USB flash drive for backup purposes.
  6. Connect Power: Connect the provided 12V DC power adapter to the 'POWER IN' port on the DVR, then plug the adapter into a power outlet.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Initial Setup and Configuration

Upon first power-up, the DVR will guide you through an initial setup wizard. Follow the on-screen prompts to set the date/time, network settings, and create an administrator password. It is crucial to set a strong password for security.

4.2 Live View and Playback

Once configured, you can view live camera feeds on the connected monitor. Use the USB mouse to navigate the on-screen menu. To access recorded footage, select the 'Playback' option from the main menu. You can search by date, time, and event type (e.g., motion detection).

4.3 Recording Modes

The DVR supports the following recording modes, configurable via the system settings:

  • Continuous Recording: Records 24/7 without interruption.
  • Manual Recording: Start and stop recording manually.
  • Motion Detection Recording: Records only when motion is detected in the camera's view.
  • Schedule Recording: Set specific times for recording to occur.

4.4 Remote Access

To view your security system remotely:

  1. Mobile App: Download the free XMEye application from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). Follow the in-app instructions to add your DVR using its unique ID or QR code.
  2. PC Software (CMS Client): Install the CMS Client Software on your PC. This software provides advanced management and viewing capabilities.
  3. Web Browser: Access your DVR via a web browser by entering its IP address. Ensure your network is configured for remote access (e.g., port forwarding).

4.5 Motion Detection and Email Alerts

Configure motion detection zones and sensitivity for each camera in the DVR settings. Enable email alerts to receive notifications when motion is detected. Ensure your network settings and email server details are correctly entered for this feature to function.

4.6 USB Backup

To back up recorded video files:

  1. Insert a USB flash drive into an available USB port on the DVR.
  2. Navigate to the 'Backup' or 'Export' section in the DVR menu.
  3. Select the desired video files by date, time, and camera.
  4. Initiate the backup process. The files will be saved to your USB drive.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your DVR system:

  • Dust Removal: Periodically clean the DVR unit to prevent dust buildup, which can cause overheating. Use compressed air to clear vents.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the Evertech website for firmware updates. Keeping your DVR's firmware up-to-date can improve performance and security.
  • Hard Drive Health: Monitor the health of the hard drive through the DVR's system information. Replace the hard drive if errors or failures are indicated.
  • Cable Connections: Periodically check all cable connections (power, video, network) to ensure they are secure and free from damage.
  • Password Security: Change your DVR's password regularly to maintain system security.
