4. Setup and Installation
- Assemble the Filter: Ensure the filter sponge is correctly seated within the filter cover and attached to the main pump unit.
- Attach Mounting System:
- Attach the 4 suction cups to the universal mounting bracket.
- Slide the universal mounting bracket onto the back of the main pump unit.
- Alternatively, use the aquarium hanger with the universal mounting bracket for hanging the filter on the rim of the aquarium.
- Install in Aquarium: Securely attach the filter to the inside wall of your aquarium using the suction cups, ensuring it is fully submerged.
- Connect Aeration System (Optional):
- Connect the aeration adapter to the outlet nozzle of the main pump.
- Attach the air line to the aeration adapter.
- Connect the air regulator to the other end of the air line.
- Position the air regulator above the water level, outside the aquarium.

5. Operating Instructions
The Aquael Fan Internal Filter Mini Plus is designed for continuous operation. Once plugged in, the filter will begin to circulate and filter water.
5.1. Adjusting Flow Rate and Direction
- Flow Adjustment: Use the flow adjustment knob located on top of the filter to increase or decrease the water flow rate.
- Directional Output: The outlet nozzle can be rotated up to 75 degrees in either direction to direct the water flow as needed within the aquarium.

5.2. Aeration Control
If the aeration system is connected, the air regulator allows you to control the amount of air introduced into the water. Adjust the regulator to achieve the desired level of aeration.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the efficient operation and longevity of your filter. Always unplug the filter before performing any maintenance.
- Filter Sponge Cleaning:
- Carefully remove the filter from the aquarium.
- Detach the filter cover and remove the standard sponge.
- Rinse the sponge thoroughly in old aquarium water (not tap water) to preserve beneficial bacteria. Replace the sponge if it is heavily soiled or damaged.
- Reassemble the filter.
- Impeller Cleaning:
- Periodically inspect and clean the impeller and its chamber.
- Remove the main pump unit and carefully detach the impeller cover.
- Clean the impeller and its housing with a small brush to remove any debris or mineral buildup.
- Reassemble all parts securely.
- Inlet Screen Cleaning: Clean the inlet screen regularly to prevent blockages and maintain optimal water intake.
