Setup and Installation
The Babelio Baby Gate features a pressure-mounted design for quick and easy installation without the need for drilling or tools. Follow these steps for proper setup:
- Do NOT cut zip ties before installation: The gate comes with zip ties holding the frame together. These ties are crucial for maintaining the gate's shape during installation and should only be cut after the gate is fully set up and secured. A gap between the gate latch and the frame is normal before installation and will disappear once properly installed.
- Measure the Opening: Accurately measure the width of your doorway or stair opening to determine if extension kits are needed. The gate expands to fit openings between 26-40 inches wide.
- Add Extensions (if needed): If your opening is wider than the main gate, attach the appropriate extension kits.
- Install Threaded Spindle Rods: Insert the four threaded spindle rods into the corners of the gate frame. Place the wall cups onto the tension bolts first.
- Position the Gate: Place the gate in the desired opening. Ensure the gate is centered and level.
- Tighten the Bolts: Rotate the center round nuts on the threaded spindle rods to apply pressure against the walls. Tighten until the gate is securely held in place. The gap between the gate latch and the frame should reduce to approximately 2mm.
- Cut Zip Ties: Once the gate is securely installed and the gap is minimal, you may cut the zip ties.
- Regularly Check: Periodically check and tighten the bolts for added safety and stability.

Operating Instructions
The Babelio Baby Gate is designed for easy one-handed operation for adults while maintaining security against children and pets.
- Opening the Gate: To open the gate, simultaneously press the button on the top of the handle and lift the gate. This double-lock mechanism ensures that children cannot easily open the gate.
- Auto-Close Function: For convenience, the gate is equipped with an auto-close function. If the gate is opened less than 90 degrees, it will gently swing shut and lock automatically.
- Hold-Open Feature: If you open the gate past 90 degrees, it will remain open, allowing for continuous passage. This is useful when you need to move freely through the opening for an extended period.
- One-Way Swing (for stairs): When installed at the top of stairs, the gate is designed to swing only in one direction (away from the stairs) to prevent the danger of swinging over the stairs.

Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and continued safe operation of your Babelio Baby Gate, regular maintenance is recommended:
- Cleaning: Wipe down the gate regularly with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
- Check Connections: Periodically inspect all connection points, especially the threaded spindle rods, to ensure they remain tight and secure. Re-tighten if any looseness is detected.
- Inspect for Damage: Regularly check the gate for any signs of wear, damage, or loose parts. If any damage is found, discontinue use immediately and contact customer support.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your Babelio Baby Gate, refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:
- Gate appears bent or has a gap before installation: This is normal and not a defect. The gate is designed to have a slight gap before it is fully installed and pressure-mounted. The gap will close once the tension bolts are properly tightened against the wall.
- Gate is not secure/wobbly: Ensure all four threaded spindle rods are tightened sufficiently. Use the included spanner tool to apply adequate pressure. Make sure the wall cups are properly positioned against a flat, stable surface.
- Gate is difficult to open or close: Check if the gate is level and properly aligned. If it's too tight, slightly loosen the tension bolts until the gate swings smoothly. Ensure both the top and bottom release buttons are pressed simultaneously when opening.
- Gate does not auto-close: Verify that the gate is installed correctly and is level. The auto-close mechanism relies on proper alignment. If the gate is opened too wide (past 90 degrees), it will engage the hold-open feature.
