1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your VOLTCRAFT DL-250V Voltage Data Logger. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device and keep it for future reference.

The VOLTCRAFT DL-250V is a compact and powerful portable data logger with an LCD display and integrated lithium battery. It is designed to monitor and record measured voltage data. The data logging capacity is designed to store a large number of measurement data points based on adjustable criteria. The logger can be individually configured via a web browser. Once data recording is complete and the logger is connected to a USB interface, a PDF file and an additional spreadsheet file are automatically generated. This record contains general device information, data logger settings, alarm status, and a graph showing measured values over the recorded time.

3. Setup

3.1 Initial Battery Charge

The DL-250V has an integrated lithium battery. For optimal performance, ensure the device is sufficiently charged before first use. Connect the data logger to a standard USB port on a computer or a USB power adapter. The battery indicator on the LCD will show charging status.

3.2 Software Configuration (Web Browser)

The DL-250V does not require dedicated software installation. Configuration is performed via a web browser:

1. Remove the protective cap to expose the USB-A connector (refer to Figure 3).
2. Plug the data logger directly into a USB port on your computer.
3. The device will be recognized as a removable storage device. Navigate to the device's root directory.
4. Locate and open the HTML configuration file (e.g., "config.html" or similar) in your web browser.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions in the web interface to set measurement parameters such as:
   • Measurement interval (e.g., 10 seconds to 24 hours)
   • Start/Stop conditions
   • Alarm thresholds (if applicable)
6. Save the configuration to the device. Safely eject the device from your computer after configuration.

Note: Ensure your web browser is up-to-date for optimal compatibility with the configuration interface.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Connecting Probes

Connect the red alligator clip to the positive (+) terminal and the black alligator clip to the negative (-) terminal of the voltage source you wish to measure. Ensure a secure connection to prevent inaccurate readings.

4.2 Starting Data Logging

Once configured, the device will begin logging data according to the set parameters. The LCD display will show current readings and logging status. Refer to the display icons for information on active logging, battery status, and alarm indicators.

4.3 Stopping Data Logging

Logging will automatically stop based on the configured stop conditions (e.g., reaching maximum readings, specific time). You can also manually stop logging if the device supports it (refer to the web configuration interface for manual stop options).

5. Data Logging and Export

After data logging is complete, you can retrieve the recorded data:

1. Connect the DL-250V to a USB port on your computer.
2. The device will appear as a removable drive.
3. Automatically, a PDF report and an additional spreadsheet file (e.g., CSV or Excel) will be generated in the device's root directory.
4. Open the PDF report for a summary of the logging session, including general device information, settings, alarm status, and a graphical representation of the measured values over time.
5. Open the spreadsheet file for raw data, which can be used for further analysis in spreadsheet software.
6. Copy the generated files to your computer for permanent storage.
7. Safely eject the device from your computer.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the USB port is free of dust and debris.

6.2 Storage

Store the data logger in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the USB protective cap is in place when not in use to protect the connector.

6.3 Battery Care

The integrated lithium battery is not user-replaceable. To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the device frequently and store it with a partial charge if not used for extended periods.
