4. Setup
4.1 Power Connection
Connect the provided power adapter to the DC input port on the back of the alarm clock and plug it into a standard wall outlet. The display will light up.
4.2 Backup Battery Installation
The SPC Frodi Max includes a backup battery feature to retain time and alarm settings during a power outage.
- Locate the battery compartment on the bottom of the unit.
- Open the compartment cover.
- Insert the 1 x 3V CR2032 battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
This backup battery ensures that your alarm settings are not lost if the main power supply is interrupted.
4.3 Initial Time Setting
Upon first power-up or after a prolonged power disconnection without backup battery, you may need to set the time. Refer to Section 5.1 for detailed instructions on setting the time.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Setting the Time
To set the current time:
- Press and hold the TIME SET button (refer to Figure 3.2 for button location). The hour digits will begin to flash.
- Use the HOUR and MINUTE buttons to adjust the time.
- Press TIME SET again to confirm and exit time setting mode.
5.2 Setting Alarms (Dual Alarm)
The SPC Frodi Max allows you to set two independent alarms.
- Press and hold the ALARM 1 button. The alarm hour digits will flash.
- Use the HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set the desired alarm time for Alarm 1.
- Press ALARM 1 again to select the alarm source: Buzzer or Radio. The corresponding icon will appear on the display.
- Repeat steps 1-3 for ALARM 2 using the ALARM 2 button.
- To activate/deactivate an alarm, briefly press the respective ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 button. An alarm icon will appear when active.
When waking to radio, the volume will be set to the last listened volume level.
5.3 Snooze, Sleep, and Dimmer Functions
A large, elongated multi-function button on the top of the device provides easy access to these features:
- Snooze: When an alarm sounds, press this button to silence the alarm for 9 minutes. The alarm will sound again after this period.
- Sleep: When the radio is playing, press this button to activate the sleep timer. Each press will delay the radio's automatic shutdown by 10 minutes.
- Dimmer: Press this button when the alarm is not sounding to cycle through 3 levels of display brightness (low, medium, high).
5.4 Time Projector
The integrated projector allows you to display the time on your ceiling or wall.
- Activation: Press the PROJECTION button to turn the projector on or off.
- Direction Adjustment: Rotate the projector lens housing to adjust the projection angle.
- Focus Adjustment: Rotate the outer ring of the projector lens to sharpen the projected time display.
The projected time is displayed in a subtle red color, designed not to disturb sleep.
5.5 Radio Function
To use the built-in FM radio:
- Turn On/Off: Press the ON/OFF button to turn the radio on or off.
- Tune Stations: Use the TUNE +/- buttons to manually tune to a desired frequency.
- Auto Scan: Press and hold the TUNE +/- button to automatically scan for the next available station.
- Save Presets: To save a station, tune to the desired frequency, then press and hold the MEM/M+ button until the preset number flashes. Use the TUNE +/- buttons to select a preset number, then press MEM/M+ again to confirm.
- Recall Presets: Briefly press the MEM/M+ button to cycle through saved preset stations.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
To clean the device, use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the surface. Ensure the device is unplugged before cleaning.
6.2 Battery Replacement
If the backup battery (CR2032) needs replacement, follow the instructions in Section 4.2. Replace with a new 3V CR2032 battery.
