Setup

Powering Options

The P-1009Pro-G offers 5 reliable ways to power the device, ensuring functionality even during prolonged outages:

  • Built-in 5000mAh Rechargeable Battery: The primary power source, indicated on the LCD screen.
  • 5V USB Input: Use the included USB charging cable to charge via a standard USB power adapter (not included).
  • Solar Panel: Position the radio with the solar panel facing direct sunlight for continuous charging.
  • Hand Crank: Rotate the hand crank to generate power manually.
  • 3 AAA Batteries: For backup, insert 3 AAA batteries (not included) into the dedicated compartment.

Battery Installation (AAA)

To install or replace AAA batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio.
  2. Slide the cover open.
  3. Insert 3 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Initial Charge

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the built-in 5000mAh rechargeable battery using the USB input for optimal performance.

Operating Instructions

Radio Operation

The radio supports AM, FM, SW, and NOAA Weather Band frequencies.

  1. Power On/Off: Rotate the 'Volume' knob clockwise to turn the radio on and counter-clockwise to turn it off.
  2. Band Selection: Press the 'BAND' button to cycle through SW, AM, FM, and WB (Weather Band) modes.
  3. Tuning: Use the 'Tune' knob to manually adjust the frequency. For digital tuning, hold 'Tune+' or 'Tune-' to auto-scan for available channels.
  4. Volume Adjustment: Use the 'Volume' knob to adjust the sound level.

NOAA Weather Alert

The radio features an automatic NOAA weather alert function:

  1. In WB mode, press the 'WX ALERT' button to activate the automatic weather alert.
  2. The radio will remain in standby mode, displaying the time. If a weather alert is issued, it will automatically turn on with a loud alarm and flashing red light.
  3. To deactivate the alert, press 'WX ALERT' again.

Time Display and Backlight

  • The large LCD display shows the current time. Press 'SET TIME' to adjust the time.
  • Press the 'BACKLIGHT' button (often integrated with 'DIMMER' or 'VOL-') to adjust the brightness of the LCD display.

Headphone Jack

A 3.5mm headphone jack is included for private listening without disturbing others.

Lighting Functions

  • Flashlight: Press the dedicated flashlight button on the side to activate the 3W LED flashlight. Cycle through different brightness modes or turn off.
  • Reading Lamp: Flip up the top solar panel to reveal and activate the 2.5W LED reading lamp.

Emergency Functions

  • SOS Alarm: Press the red 'SOS' button to activate a very loud siren and a flashing red light, designed to attract attention in emergencies. Press again to deactivate. The radio features a lock button to prevent accidental SOS activation.
  • Phone Charging (Power Bank): Connect your smartphone or other small devices to the USB output port (5V/1A) to charge them during emergencies.

Maintenance

Care and Storage

  • Keep the radio in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Clean the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ensure all port covers are securely closed to maintain water resistance (IPX6 rating).

Battery Care

  • Regularly charge the built-in battery, even if not in use, to prolong its lifespan.
  • If using AAA batteries, remove them if the radio will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

Safety Information

Please do not listen to the radio when charging to prevent crackly radio static.

Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Check battery level on the LCD. Try charging via USB, solar, or hand crank. Ensure AAA batteries (if used) are correctly inserted and not depleted.
  • Poor Radio Reception: Extend the telescopic antenna fully. Adjust the radio's position. Try different band settings (AM/FM/SW/WB).
  • Phone Not Charging: Ensure the radio's built-in battery has sufficient charge. Check the USB cable connection.
  • SOS Alarm Not Working: Ensure the lock button is disengaged before pressing the SOS button.
