4. Installation and Setup
4.1 Safety Precautions
- WARNING: To avoid possible electrical shock, ensure power is turned off at the circuit breaker or fuse box before beginning installation.
- Consult a qualified electrician if you are unfamiliar with electrical wiring.
- Do not use with solid-state fan speed controls.
4.2 Wiring the Receiver
The receiver (RC-5R) must be installed within the ceiling fan's canopy. Follow these steps for proper wiring:
- Turn off power to the ceiling fan at the main circuit breaker.
- Remove the existing canopy cover from your ceiling fan to access the wiring.
- Connect the receiver wires to the corresponding fan and house wires using the provided wire nuts. Refer to the wiring diagram below.
- Receiver Black Wire (AC IN L) to House Black Wire (Live)
- Receiver White Wire (AC IN N) to House White Wire (Neutral)
- Receiver Blue Wire (TO LIGHT L) to Fan Light Wire
- Receiver Black Wire (TO MOTOR L) to Fan Motor Live Wire
- Receiver White Wire (TO MOTOR N) to Fan Motor Neutral Wire
- Ensure all ground wires are securely connected.
- Carefully tuck all wires and the receiver into the fan canopy.
- Reattach the canopy cover.

4.4 Pairing the Remote Control
After wiring the receiver and installing the battery in the remote, you need to pair them. This process ensures the remote communicates correctly with your specific receiver.
- Restore power to the ceiling fan at the circuit breaker.
- Within 30 seconds of restoring power, press and hold the "LEARN" button (often labeled '0' or a small button inside the battery compartment) on the remote control for approximately 5 seconds.
- The fan light should blink twice, indicating successful pairing.
- If pairing is unsuccessful, turn off power for 5 seconds, then restore power and repeat step 2.
Note: If installing multiple kits in close proximity, ensure only the fan you wish to pair is powered on during the pairing process to prevent accidental pairing with other units.

6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Fan or light does not respond to remote. | No power to the receiver, remote battery low/dead, remote not paired, incorrect wiring. |
|
| Fan light does not dim. | Non-dimmable light bulbs installed. | Ensure dimmable light bulbs are used in the fan fixture. |
| Fan makes a humming noise. | Incompatible fan motor or receiver. | While this kit is widely compatible, some fan motors may produce a slight hum with remote control receivers. Ensure the receiver specifications match your fan's requirements. |
| Remote controls multiple fans. | Multiple receivers paired to one remote, or remote in "unlocked" mode. |
|
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the remote control and receiver with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: Replace the CR2032 battery in the remote control when its performance diminishes.
