Operating Instructions

1. Melting Wax

  1. Add the desired amount of organic soy wax flakes into the stainless steel pouring pot.
  2. Plug in the electronic hot plate and turn the dial to your desired heat setting. The hot plate is designed to heat wax quickly and safely.
  3. Stir the wax occasionally with the stainless steel spoon until it is fully melted and smooth.
  4. Monitor the wax temperature. For optimal results, refer to the Chandler Tool e-book or video tutorial for recommended pouring temperatures for soy wax.

2. Preparing Your Container and Wick

  1. Choose your desired candle container (not included in kit).
  2. Secure a cotton candle wick to the center bottom of your container. You may use a small amount of melted wax or a wick sticker (not included) for adhesion.
  3. Place a stainless steel centering device across the top of your container to hold the wick upright and centered while the wax sets.

3. Adding Fragrance and Dye (Optional)

  • Once the wax is fully melted and has reached the appropriate temperature (as per e-book/tutorial guidance), add your chosen fragrance oils and/or candle dyes (not included in kit).
  • Stir thoroughly for at least 2 minutes to ensure even distribution of fragrance and color.

4. Pouring and Curing

  1. Carefully pour the melted wax into your prepared container, ensuring the wick remains centered.
  2. Allow the candle to cool and harden completely at room temperature. This process can take several hours.
  3. Once fully hardened, remove the centering device and trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) above the wax surface.
  4. For best results, allow your candle to cure for at least 24-48 hours before its first burn.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Pouring Pot

  • After each use, allow any residual wax in the pouring pot to cool and solidify.
  • Once solid, gently scrape out the wax.
  • Wash the pouring pot with warm, soapy water. Ensure all wax residue is removed.

Cleaning the Electronic Hot Plate

  • Always ensure the hot plate is unplugged and completely cool before cleaning.
  • Wipe the heating surface and exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  • Never immerse the hot plate in water or any other liquid.

Storage

Store all components of the candle making kit in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children and pets.

Troubleshooting

  • Wax not melting: Ensure the hot plate is plugged in, turned on, and the temperature dial is set correctly. Allow sufficient time for the plate to heat up.
  • Uneven candle surface: This can occur due to rapid cooling. Try pouring wax at a slightly lower temperature or pre-warming your containers.
  • Wick tunneling: If the candle burns down the center, leaving wax on the sides, the wick may be too small for the container. Refer to the e-book for wick sizing guidelines.
  • Wick not staying centered: Ensure the wick is securely attached to the bottom of the container and the centering device is properly positioned.
