This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your hygger 42W 24/7 Lighting Aquarium LED Light. Designed for 48-54 inch fish tanks, this light offers advanced features including a 24/7 natural mode, customizable DIY mode, and extendable brackets for easy installation. Please read this manual thoroughly to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your aquarium lighting system.

Product Features

  • 24/7 Natural Mode: Simulates a natural light cycle with gradient orange (sunrise), gradient white (daylight), and gradient blue (moonlight) transitions. The light is off during other periods. The 6-time points on the controller serve as a reference for the initial setup, allowing the overall default time period to be delayed or advanced.
  • DIY Mode: Offers customizable settings for time, color, and brightness.
    • Setting Time (TIMER key): Choose from 6, 10, or 12 hours of operation.
    • Brightness (▲/▼ key): Select from 5 levels of brightness: 10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%. The light will ramp up or down to the selected brightness over 15 minutes.
    • Color (ON-OFF/ M key): Available colors include White, Red, Blue, Green, Purple, Orange, Cyan. There is also a "Cycle Color" option which does not allow brightness selection.
  • New Upgrade Features: Includes a separable adapter for easy replacement, extendable bending brackets for adjustable length and simple installation on various freshwater tanks, and thickened aluminum for improved heat dissipation. Features a power-off memory function, retaining all settings except the start time, which defaults to 6 am after a power interruption.
  • High-Quality Light: Provides soft light with a color rendering index (CRI) close to natural light (up to 85%), protecting both fish and human eyes from stroboscopic discomfort. Utilizes high-quality 2835 + 5050 model lamp beads with a long service life of at least 50,000 hours. Lamp beads are waterproof, making the light easy to clean and safe even if briefly submerged.

Setup

  1. Unpack the Light: Carefully remove the LED light fixture, controller, and power adapter from the packaging.
  2. Attach Extendable Brackets: Slide the extendable bending brackets onto both ends of the light fixture. Adjust the length of the brackets to fit your aquarium's dimensions (48-54 inches for this model).
  3. Position the Light: Place the light fixture securely on top of your aquarium, ensuring the brackets rest firmly on the tank edges.
  4. Connect Power: Connect the separable power adapter to the light fixture's cable, then plug the adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
  5. Initial Power On: The light will typically power on in its default 24/7 Natural Mode.

Operating Instructions

24/7 Natural Mode (Default)

This mode simulates a natural day-night cycle for your aquarium. The light transitions automatically through different colors and intensities:

  • 6 am - 8 am: Gradient Orange light (sunrise).
  • 8 am - 6 pm: Gradient White light (daylight).
  • 6 pm - 10:50 pm: Gradient Blue light (moonlight).
  • Other times: Lights are off.

The 6-time points on the controller (6:00, 8:00, 18:00, 22:50) are reference points. You can adjust the overall start time of this cycle by setting the current time on the controller. For example, if you set the current time to 7 am, the entire cycle will shift by one hour, with sunrise starting at 7 am instead of 6 am.

DIY Mode

The DIY mode allows for personalized light settings. Use the controller buttons to adjust:

  • Setting Time (TIMER key): Press the "TIMER" button to cycle through available operating durations: 6 hours, 10 hours, or 12 hours.
  • Brightness (▲/▼ keys): Use the "▲" (up) and "▼" (down) buttons to select one of 5 brightness levels: 10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%. The light will ramp up or down to the selected brightness over 15 minutes.
  • Color (ON-OFF/ M key): Press the "ON-OFF/ M" button to cycle through the 7 available colors: White, Red, Blue, Green, Purple, Orange, Cyan. There is also a "Cycle Color" option which does not allow brightness selection.

The light features a power-off memory function. In both 24/7 and DIY modes, your settings will be retained after a power interruption, except for the start time, which will reset to 6 am.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: The lamp beads are waterproof, allowing for easy cleaning and wiping. Ensure the light is unplugged before cleaning. Use a soft, damp cloth to gently wipe the light fixture. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
  • Controller Care: The controller is not waterproof. Keep it dry and away from water splashes to prevent damage.
  • Adapter Replacement: The separable adapter design allows for easy replacement if it becomes damaged, preventing the need to replace the entire light unit. Contact hygger customer support for replacement parts.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Light does not turn on.No power, loose connection, or faulty adapter.Check power outlet. Ensure all connections (light to adapter, adapter to wall) are secure. If only a portion of the lights work, the power adapter may be faulty; contact customer support for a replacement.
Light settings reset after power outage.Normal behavior for time setting. The power-off memory function retains color and brightness settings, but the start time defaults to 6 am. Re-adjust the current time on the controller if you wish to shift the cycle.
Controller not responding or malfunctioning.Water damage or internal fault.Ensure the controller is kept dry. If water exposure occurred, allow it to dry completely. If issues persist, the controller may be damaged; contact customer support.
Algae growth in tank.Light is too bright or on for too long.Adjust brightness levels in DIY mode or reduce the operating duration. Consider adding floating plants to help manage light intensity.
