4. Setup

4.1 Physical Installation

1. Mounting: Securely mount the camera using the provided bracket on a stable surface or ceiling. Ensure the camera has a clear line of sight to the intended capture area.
2. Power Connection: Connect the camera to power using either the provided 12V DC adapter or a PoE-enabled network switch via the LAN port. If using PoE, only one Ethernet cable is required for power, video, and control.
3. Video Output: Connect the desired video output (HDMI, 3G-SDI, or LAN for NDI) to your video switcher, capture card, or display device.

4.2 Network Configuration (for NDI/IP Control)

For NDI streaming and IP control, network configuration is essential.

1. Initial IP Access: The camera ships with a default static IP address (refer to the separate quick start guide for the specific address). To access the camera's web interface for the first time, connect your computer directly to the camera's LAN port or to the same network segment. Temporarily configure your computer's IPv4 settings to match the camera's subnet.
2. Web Interface Access: Open a web browser and enter the camera's IP address. Log in using the default credentials (usually admin/admin).
3. Language Setting: If the interface is in Chinese, log out and select English from the language toggle on the login screen before logging back in.
4. IP Address Assignment: Change the camera's IP address to one compatible with your local network's subnet. You can assign a static IP or enable DHCP if your network supports it.
5. NDI Discovery: Once configured, the camera should be discoverable by NDI-compatible software (e.g., vMix, OBS Studio) on the same network.

5. Operating the Camera

5.1 Basic PTZ Control

The camera can be controlled via the included IR remote, an IP joystick controller, or through its web interface.

• Pan/Tilt: Adjust the camera's horizontal and vertical orientation.
• Zoom: Use the optical zoom to adjust the focal length.
• Focus: The camera features impressive autofocus capabilities. Manual focus adjustment is also available.
• Presets: Save and recall specific pan, tilt, and zoom positions for quick scene changes.

5.2 AI Auto Tracking

The Gen-3 AI Auto Tracking feature allows the camera to automatically follow a subject.

• Presenter Tracking Mode: Automatically follows a speaker or presenter. You can define framing (full-body, upper body, close-up) and position (left, middle, right).
• Zone Tracking Mode: Set up to four distinct tracking zones. The camera will track subjects as they move between these predefined areas.

5.3 Software Compatibility

The AVKANS NDI PTZ Camera integrates seamlessly with various video production and conferencing software.

• vMix: Full control of PTZ functions directly within vMix.
• OBS Studio: Compatible for video recording and live streaming to platforms like YouTube and Twitch.

6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your camera.

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the camera body. For the lens, use a specialized lens cleaning cloth and solution. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
• Environment: Operate and store the camera in a clean, dry environment, away from extreme temperatures, humidity, and direct sunlight.

7. Troubleshooting

No Video Output / Black Screen:

• Ensure the camera is powered on and the power indicator light is active.
• Check all video cables (HDMI, SDI, Ethernet) for secure connections.
• Verify the input selection on your display or video switcher matches the camera's output.
• For NDI, confirm the camera's IP address is correctly configured and discoverable on the network.

NDI Connection Freezing:

• Ensure your network infrastructure (router, switches, cables) can handle the bandwidth required for NDI.
• Update your NDI Tools software and camera firmware to the latest versions.
• Temporarily disable any firewalls or antivirus software that might be interfering with network communication.

Cannot Access Web Interface:

• Verify your computer's IP address is on the same subnet as the camera.
• Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected.
• Try resetting the camera to factory defaults (refer to the quick start guide for instructions).

Auto Tracking Not Working Correctly:

• Ensure adequate lighting in the tracking area.
• Check the camera's web interface to confirm tracking mode and settings are correctly configured.
• Avoid obstructions between the camera and the subject.
