4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

  1. Ensure the radio is powered off.
  2. Align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the radio.
  3. Slide the battery upwards until it clicks securely into place.
  4. To remove, press the battery release latch (located at the bottom of the battery) and slide the battery downwards.

4.2 Antenna Attachment

  1. Screw the antenna clockwise into the connector on the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

4.3 Charging the Battery

  1. Connect the power adapter to the desktop charger cradle.
  2. Plug the power adapter into a standard wall outlet.

5.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control

  • To power on, rotate the volume knob (top-left) clockwise.
  • To power off, rotate the volume knob counter-clockwise until it clicks.

  • The radio operates on VHF (144-148 MHz) and UHF (420-450 MHz) bands.
  • Use the VFO/MR button to switch between Frequency Mode (VFO) and Channel Mode (MR).
  • In Frequency Mode, enter frequencies directly using the keypad.
  • In Channel Mode, use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to navigate through programmed channels.
  • The A/B button switches between the upper and lower display frequencies.

5.3 Transmit and Receive (PTT)

  • To transmit, press and hold the PTT (Push-To-Talk) button on the left side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone.
  • Release the PTT button to receive.
