Setup

1. Battery Installation

The iTouchless DZT08PL-8 requires 4 'D' size batteries (not included) for operation. Alternatively, an optional AC adapter (not included) can be used.

1. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the lid.
2. Open the battery compartment cover.
3. Insert 4 'D' size batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2. Assembling the Trash Can

1. Place the main body of the trash can on a flat, stable surface.
2. Insert a trash bag into the can. Secure the trash bag by placing the retainer ring over the top edge of the bag and tucking the bag's excess into the ring.
3. Place the lid assembly onto the top of the trash can body, ensuring it is seated properly. The sensor should face forward.

Operating Instructions

Automatic Sensor Operation

The iTouchless DZT08PL-8 features an infrared motion sensor that automatically opens the lid when an object is detected within its range.

• Opening the Lid: Wave your hand or an object within 6 inches (15 cm) above the sensor located on the front of the lid. The lid will open automatically.
• Closing the Lid: The lid will close automatically after 5 seconds of inactivity (no object detected by the sensor).

Manual Operation

For extended opening or manual control, use the buttons on the lid:

• OPEN Button: Press the "OPEN" button to keep the lid open indefinitely. The lid will remain open until the "CLOSE" button is pressed.
• CLOSE Button: Press the "CLOSE" button to close the lid when it is in the open position (either by sensor or "OPEN" button).

Maintenance

Cleaning the Unit

To maintain the appearance and functionality of your trash can:

• Wipe the exterior of the trash can with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent.
• Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
• Ensure the sensor window on the lid is clean and free of dust or debris. Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the sensor.
• Do not rinse the lid directly under water or immerse it, as this can damage the electronic components.

Battery Replacement

When the batteries are low, the lid may open and close slowly, or the sensor may become less responsive. Replace all batteries simultaneously.

1. Turn off the power switch (if available, usually on the underside of the lid).
2. Open the battery compartment.
3. Remove the old batteries and dispose of them according to local regulations.
4. Insert new 'D' size batteries, observing correct polarity.
5. Close the battery compartment.
6. Turn on the power switch.
