Thank you for purchasing the iOCHOW S5 Document and Book Scanner. This device is designed to efficiently digitize various documents, books, and other materials with high resolution and advanced image processing capabilities. Please read this manual carefully to ensure proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your scanner.

The iOCHOW S5 features a compact, foldable design with a high-resolution camera and integrated LED lighting for optimal scanning conditions.

Key components include the main scanner unit, a flexible arm, a base, and a USB connection port. The device is designed for portability and minimal desk space usage.

5. Setup

  1. Unfold the Scanner: Gently unfold the scanner arm until it locks into position.
  2. Place the Scanning Mat: Position the black scanning mat on a flat, stable surface. Ensure the mat is aligned correctly under the scanner head.
  3. Connect to PC: Use the provided USB cable to connect the scanner to your computer. The scanner requires two USB ports for sufficient power. Connect the shorter USB plug to your PC first. If power is insufficient, connect the longer USB plug to another USB port on your PC.
  4. Install Software: Insert the software installation CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive and follow the on-screen instructions. Alternatively, download the latest software from the official iOCHOW website.
  5. Launch Software: Once installed, launch the iOCHOW scanning software.

6. Operating Instructions

The iOCHOW S5 offers various scanning modes and features to optimize your digitization process.

6.1 Basic Document Scanning

  1. Place the document flat on the scanning mat, ensuring it is within the camera's view.
  2. In the software, select 'Document Mode'.
  3. Click the 'Scan' button in the software or use the remote control to capture the image.
  4. The software will automatically trim unnecessary parts outside the scan area.

6.2 Book Scanning with Automatic Flattening

For books, the scanner utilizes automatic flattening technology to correct page curvature and remove finger marks.

  1. Open the book and place it on the scanning mat.
  2. Select 'Book Mode' in the software.
  3. The software can detect page turns and initiate a scan automatically after a 3-second delay, allowing you to hold the pages flat.
  4. The system will automatically correct the curvature of the open pages and remove any fingers holding the book down.

6.3 Optical Character Recognition (OCR)

The integrated OCR technology allows you to convert scanned pages into editable text formats.

  1. After scanning a document, select the OCR function within the software.
  2. Choose your desired output format: Word, Excel, PDF, or TXT.
  3. The software will process the image and convert the text.

6.4 Advanced Image Processing

The software includes various image correction and enhancement features:

6.5 Video Recording and Real-time Projection

The scanner can function as a document camera for video recording and real-time projection, useful for presentations, online meetings, or creating instructional videos.

  1. Place the object or document under the scanner.
  2. Select 'Video Recording' or 'Real-time Projection' mode in the software.
  3. The live feed from the scanner can be displayed on your computer screen, projected onto a larger display, or recorded.
