1. Introduction

3. Setup

3.1 Powering the Device

The Zoom V3 can be powered in two ways:

  • AA Batteries: Insert four AA batteries into the battery compartment on the underside of the unit.
  • AC Adapter: Connect the included Zoom AD-16 9V AC Adapter to the DC9V INPUT port (P) on the rear panel and plug it into a power outlet.

3.2 Connecting Your Microphone and Audio System

  1. Microphone Input: Connect your microphone to the XLR MIC INPUT (G) on the rear panel. If using a condenser microphone, ensure the +48V PHANTOM POWER switch (H) is set to ON.
  2. Output Jacks: Connect the 1/4" OUTPUT JACKS (K) to your PA system, audio interface, or recording device.
  3. Headphone Output: For monitoring, connect headphones to the 3.5mm HEADPHONE jack (M) on the front panel. Adjust the volume using the HEADPHONE VOLUME KNOB (N).
  4. Auxiliary Input: Connect an external audio player to the AUX IN jack (J) to play along with backing tracks.
  5. Control Input: An optional foot switch (FS01) or expression pedal (FP02M) can be connected to the CONTROL INPUT (O) for hands-free operation.

Connect the V3 to your computer using a USB cable via the USB PORT (L). The V3 functions as a 2-input/2-output USB 2.0 audio interface, supporting 44.1 kHz sample rate at 16-, 24-, or 32-bit.   • Tabletop: Place the unit on a flat surface for easy access to controls.
  • Mic Stand: Utilize the 1/4"-20 thread on the rear panel to attach the V3 to a microphone stand using the included Zoom Handy Recorder Mount.

4. Operating the Zoom V3

4.1 Controls Overview

The V3 features clearly labeled knobs and illuminated buttons for intuitive operation. Refer to the diagram below for a visual guide to the controls:

Use the EFFECTS SELECTION BUTTONS (D) to choose an effect and the EFFECT ADJUSTMENT KNOB (E) to fine-tune its parameters. For harmonies, select your desired interval using HARMONY SELECTION (A) and set the musical key with the KEY SELECT KNOB (B).
