1. Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the proper use and maintenance of AUDCOM Oticon Wax O-Caps. These wax guards are designed to protect Oticon In-The-Ear (ITE) and In-The-Canal (ITC) hearing aids from earwax accumulation, ensuring optimal performance and longevity of your device.
Regular replacement of the wax guard is crucial for maintaining sound quality and preventing damage to the hearing aid's internal components.
2. Product Overview
The Oticon Wax O-Cap system consists of a dispenser wheel containing multiple wax guards and a tool for easy replacement. Each wax guard acts as a filter, preventing earwax and debris from entering the hearing aid's receiver.

3. Installation and Replacement
Follow these steps to replace the wax guard in your Oticon hearing aid:
- Prepare the Tool: Open the O-Cap dispenser. The dispenser typically has two ends on the tool: one with a new wax guard and one with a hook for removing the old one.
- Remove the Old Wax Guard: Gently insert the empty hook end of the tool into the center of the used wax guard on your hearing aid. Pull it straight out to remove the old filter.
- Insert the New Wax Guard: Turn the tool around. Insert the new wax guard (on the other end of the tool) into the opening of your hearing aid's receiver. Push it in firmly until it is securely seated.
- Dispose of the Old Wax Guard: Discard the used wax guard and the tool responsibly.
It is recommended to replace your wax guards regularly, or whenever you notice a decrease in sound quality or blockage.

4. Maintenance
To ensure the best performance of your hearing aids and the longevity of the wax guards:
- Inspect your wax guards daily for any visible earwax or debris.
- Replace the wax guard immediately if it appears clogged or if sound quality diminishes.
- Avoid cleaning the wax guard with liquids or sharp objects, as this can damage the filter and the hearing aid.
- Store unused wax guards in their original packaging in a cool, dry place.
5. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your hearing aid after replacing the wax guard, consider the following:
- No Sound or Weak Sound:
- Ensure the new wax guard is fully and correctly inserted.
- Check if the wax guard is clogged with earwax. If so, replace it with a new one.
- Verify that the hearing aid itself is clean and free of debris.
- Distorted Sound:
- A partially clogged wax guard can cause distortion. Replace it.
- Ensure the wax guard is the correct type for your specific Oticon hearing aid model.
If problems persist after following these steps, consult your hearing care professional or refer to your hearing aid's specific instruction manual.
