2. Safety Information

Please read all safety warnings and instructions carefully before installation and use. Failure to follow these instructions may result in product damage, property damage, or personal injury.

  • Keep packaging materials away from children.
  • Ensure all mounting hardware is securely fastened to a stable surface.
  • Do not allow children or pets to play with the motorized shade or remote control.
  • Avoid exposing the motor or electronic components to water or excessive moisture.
  • Use only the specified charging cable and power adapter for the rechargeable motor.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present before beginning installation:

  • Motorized Roller Shade (customized size)
  • Mounting Hardware (brackets, screws, anchors)
  • Remote Control (15-channel timing remote)
  • USB-C Charging Cable
  • User Manual (this document)
  • Valance (optional, if ordered)

4. Measurement and Installation

Accurate measurements are crucial for a proper fit. Please follow the guidelines below. The product is custom-made based on your provided dimensions.

4.1 How to Measure

Determine whether you need an inside mount (within the window frame) or an outside mount (outside the window frame).

Diagram showing how to measure for inside and outside mount roller shades, including width, height, and frame depth considerations.

Figure 2: Measurement guide for inside and outside mounts.

  • Inside Mount: Measure the exact width and height of the window opening in three places (top, middle, bottom for width; left, middle, right for height). Use the smallest measurement. Also, measure the window frame depth. A minimum depth of 1.87 inches is required. If the depth is less than 2.75 inches, the valance may extend beyond the window frame.
  • Outside Mount: Measure the desired width and height to cover the window opening, typically adding 1 to 6 inches to both width and height for optimal light blockage and privacy.
  • Important Note: Do not measure the size of the fabric itself. Provide the window opening dimensions for inside mount, or the desired total shade dimensions for outside mount.

4.2 Mounting the Brackets

Use the provided mounting hardware to secure the brackets. Ensure the brackets are level and spaced correctly to support the shade.

  • Mark the desired position for the brackets using a pencil.
  • Drill pilot holes if necessary, then secure the brackets with screws. For drywall, use appropriate anchors.
  • For inside mount, ensure the brackets are flush with the top of the window frame.
  • For outside mount, ensure the brackets are securely mounted to the wall or ceiling above the window.

4.3 Attaching the Shade

Once the brackets are installed, carefully attach the roller shade. Ensure the motor's program button and charging hole are facing downwards for easy access.

  • Align the shade with the installed brackets.
  • Push the shade firmly into the brackets until it clicks into place.
  • Gently pull down on the shade to ensure it is securely mounted.

Your Graywind Motorized Roller Shade offers multiple control methods. Follow the instructions for your preferred setup.
