2. Safety Information
Always adhere to the following safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the pump:
- Electrical Safety: Ensure the power supply matches the pump's voltage (110 Volts). Do not operate the pump with a damaged cord or plug. Always connect to a grounded outlet.
- Water Temperature: Do not use the pump with water exceeding 95°F (35°C).
- Flammable Liquids: Never pump flammable or explosive liquids such as gasoline, fuel oil, or thinners.
- Corrosive Liquids: Avoid pumping corrosive chemicals or saltwater, as this can damage the pump.
- Dry Running: Do not allow the pump to run dry, especially in manual mode, as this can cause severe damage to the motor.
- Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the pump and the area being drained.
- Maintenance: Disconnect the power supply before performing any maintenance or cleaning.
3. Product Overview and Components
The FLUENTPOWER 1HP Sump Pump is constructed with a durable 304 stainless steel housing for longevity and efficient cooling. It comes with essential accessories for immediate use.

Included Components:
- FLUENTPOWER 1HP Sump Pump unit
- Adjustable Float Switch (pre-attached)
- 26.2 ft (8m) Power Cord
- 26 ft (8m) Rope
- Discharge Elbow
- Plastic Adapters: GHT 3/4", NPT 1", and 1-1/2" male thread connectors (with various diameter outlets: 1 inch, 1-1/4 inch, 1-1/2 inch)
4. Setup and Installation
Proper setup ensures optimal performance and safety.
4.1 Connecting the Discharge Hose
The pump comes with multiple adapters to accommodate different hose sizes:
- For standard garden hoses, use the GHT 3/4" or NPT 1" adapters.
- For maximum output flow rate (4000 GPH), use the 1-1/2" male thread connector. This adapter has three different diameter outlets (1 inch, 1-1/4 inch, 1-1/2 inch) to adapt to various hose sizes. Cut the adapter at the desired diameter for your hose.

4.2 Pump Placement
Place the pump on a stable, flat surface in the area to be drained. Ensure the pump is fully submerged for optimal operation and cooling. The pump can be used in a minimum pit size of 16"x16" and can be submerged up to a maximum depth of 23 feet.

5. Operation
The FLUENTPOWER sump pump offers both automatic and manual operating modes.
5.1 Automatic Operation (Float Switch)
The pump's ON/OFF function is controlled by the adjustable float switch. When the pump is plugged in:
- The pump will automatically start when the water level rises above approximately 20 inches (the float switch floats upwards).
- The pump will automatically stop working when the water level drops to approximately 6 inches (the float switch drops downwards).
5.2 Manual Operation
For situations where the water level is too low for the float switch to operate automatically, or if you need to drain water to a lower level (down to 2 inches), you can switch to manual control. To do this, simply attach the float switch to its side slot on the pump body. This will keep the pump running continuously.
Important: In manual mode, the pump will not turn off automatically. You must monitor the pump and cut off the power immediately once the water is drained to prevent the motor from running dry and overheating.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your sump pump.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the pump's intake screen to prevent blockages from debris. The pump can handle solids up to 1.4 inches, but excessive debris can reduce efficiency.
- Storage: If storing the pump for an extended period, ensure it is clean and dry. Store in a cool, dry place.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the power cord and float switch for any signs of damage. Do not use if damaged.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your sump pump.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump does not start | No power; Float switch not activated (Auto mode); Impeller jammed. | Check power connection/outlet; Ensure water level is above 20 inches (Auto mode); Clear any debris from the impeller. |
| Pump runs but no water is discharged or flow is low | Discharge hose kinked/blocked; Intake screen blocked; Air lock; Pump not fully submerged. | Check and clear hose; Clean intake screen; Tilt pump to release trapped air; Ensure pump is fully submerged. |
| Pump runs continuously in Auto mode | Float switch stuck; Water level not dropping below cut-out level. | Check float switch for obstructions; Ensure float switch can move freely. |
| Pump cycles on/off too frequently | Float switch cable length too short; Small pit size. | Adjust float switch cable length if possible; Consider a larger pit if feasible. |
| Pump overheats and shuts off | Dry running; Motor overload. | Ensure pump is always submerged when operating; Allow pump to cool down, it will restart automatically after cooling. |
