Setup

1. Battery Installation

The SOCOTRAN T90 radios operate with either the included NiMH rechargeable batteries or standard AA alkaline batteries. To install batteries:

  1. Ensure the radio is powered off.
  2. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio.
  3. Open the cover and insert 3 AA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Securely close the battery compartment cover.

2. Charging the Batteries

To charge the included NiMH rechargeable batteries:

  1. Place the walkie talkie into the seat charger.
  2. Connect the USB charging line to the seat charger and a compatible USB power source.
  3. Alternatively, you can charge the radio directly using the Micro-USB charging port on the side of the device.

3. Attaching Accessories

Attach the belt clip to the back of the radio for convenient carrying. Lanyards can be attached to the designated loop for added security.

1. Power On/Off

Press and hold the Power On/Off button (usually combined with the Call Tone button) to turn the radio on or off.

2. Channel Selection

The T90 features 22 FRS channels. Use the Up/Down arrow buttons to select your desired channel. Ensure all radios in your group are on the same channel for communication.

3. Push-to-Talk (PTT)

To transmit, press and hold the Push-to-Talk (PTT) button located on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to listen.

4. VOX (Voice Operated Exchange)

The VOX function allows for hands-free communication. When activated, the radio transmits automatically when it detects your voice. Refer to the full user manual for detailed VOX sensitivity settings.

5. Keypad Lock

To prevent accidental changes to settings, activate the keypad lock function. This is typically done by pressing and holding the Lock/Menu button.

6. Call Tones

7. NOAA Weather Alert

8. SOS Function

The radio features an SOS button. Pressing this button for 2 seconds activates a red LED light, signaling for help in emergency situations.
