1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Timex Waterbury Traditional Automatic Watch. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your timepiece. Please read these instructions carefully to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your watch.
This watch features an automatic mechanical movement, which means it is powered by the motion of your wrist. It does not require a battery. When worn regularly, the watch will self-wind. If not worn for an extended period, it may require manual winding to restart.

3. Setup
3.1 Initial Winding
If the watch has stopped, it needs to be manually wound to initiate power reserve. Rotate the crown clockwise approximately 20-30 times while it is in its normal, pushed-in position. This will provide enough power for the watch to start running.
3.2 Setting the Time
- Pull the crown out to position 2 (the outermost position). The second hand will stop.
- Rotate the crown to move the hands clockwise until the desired time is set. Ensure AM/PM is correctly observed if setting the date later.
- Push the crown back into position 0 (normal position) to start the watch.
3.3 Setting the Date
- Pull the crown out to position 1 (the first click).
- Rotate the crown counter-clockwise to adjust the date.
- Once the correct date is displayed, push the crown back into position 0.
Note: Avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as this can interfere with the automatic date change mechanism and potentially damage the movement. If you need to set the date during this period, first set the time outside this range (e.g., to 6:00 AM), then set the date, and finally reset the time to the current time.
4. Operating the Watch
4.1 Automatic Movement
Your watch is powered by an automatic movement. It gains power from the natural motion of your wrist. For consistent accuracy, it is recommended to wear the watch for at least 8-10 hours daily. If the watch is not worn for an extended period (typically 40 hours or more, depending on the power reserve), it will stop and require manual winding to restart.
4.2 Water Resistance
This watch is water resistant to 50 meters (5 ATM). This rating means it is suitable for short periods of recreational swimming. It is not suitable for diving, snorkeling, or high-impact water sports. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water. Do not operate the crown while the watch is wet or submerged.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
To clean your watch, wipe the case and bracelet with a soft, dry cloth. For stainless steel bracelets, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the watch's finish or seals.
5.2 Storage
When not wearing your watch, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and strong magnetic fields. If storing for an extended period, consider a watch winder to keep the automatic movement running and lubricated.
5.3 Professional Service
For optimal performance, it is recommended to have your automatic watch serviced by a qualified watchmaker every 3-5 years. This service typically includes cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment of the movement, as well as checking and replacing seals to maintain water resistance.
6. Troubleshooting
- Watch Not Running: Ensure the watch is sufficiently wound. If it has stopped, manually wind it by rotating the crown 20-30 times. If the issue persists after winding and wearing, contact customer support.
- Time is Incorrect: Reset the time as described in Section 3.2. If the watch consistently gains or loses significant time, it may require professional adjustment.
- Date Not Changing: Check if the time is set correctly for AM/PM. The date typically changes around midnight. If the date is stuck, try manually advancing it past midnight using the time-setting function. If the issue persists, contact customer support.
- Condensation Under Crystal: Small amounts of condensation that disappear quickly are usually not a concern. However, if large droplets or persistent fogging appear, this indicates a breach in water resistance. Immediately seek professional service to prevent damage to the movement.
