3.1 Initial Connection

  1. Insert the VeriMark Guard USB-A Fingerprint Key into an available USB-A port on your computer.
  2. Your operating system should automatically detect the device. Follow any on-screen prompts for initial driver installation if necessary.

3.2 Fingerprint Registration

To utilize the biometric features, you must register your fingerprints with your operating system or specific web service. The process may vary slightly depending on your system:

  • For Windows: Navigate to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Fingerprint Recognition (Windows Hello). Select 'Set up' and follow the instructions to enroll your fingerprints.
  • For macOS/ChromeOS: Fingerprint registration is typically managed through the security settings of the specific web service or application you are using, leveraging the device's FIDO2/U2F capabilities. Refer to the service's documentation for exact steps.
  • The device supports up to 10 fingerprints.

Note: While the VeriMark Guard supports FIDO2 and FIDO U2F, it is not compatible with Windows Hello for direct login to the operating system or Apple Touch ID. It functions as a FIDO-based security key for web services and applications. Windows ARM-based computers are currently not supported.

4. Operating Instructions

The VeriMark Guard Fingerprint Key provides secure authentication for various online services and applications.

4.1 Single-Factor (Passwordless) Authentication

For services that support FIDO2 passwordless login, simply touch the fingerprint sensor when prompted to authenticate.

4.2 Dual and Multi-Factor Authentication (2FA/MFA)

When a service requires 2FA or MFA, the VeriMark Guard acts as your second factor. After entering your primary credentials (e.g., password), you will be prompted to touch the fingerprint sensor on the key to complete the login process.

4.3 Tap-and-Go for FIDO U2F Services

For FIDO U2F compatible services, simply tap the fingerprint sensor when prompted to confirm your identity.

4.4 Supported Services and Browsers

The VeriMark Guard is compatible with a wide range of web services and browsers that support FIDO2 and FIDO U2F standards, including:

  • Web Services: Google, Facebook, Microsoft (for web services, not Windows Hello login), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Salesforce, GitHub, Dropbox, and more.
  • Browsers: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari.
