1. Introduction

The WINIX A230 Air Purifier is designed to improve indoor air quality by capturing airborne particles and reducing odors. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your air purifier.

The A230 features a 360° all-in-one 4-stage air purification system, capable of removing 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns. It incorporates Winix’s PlasmaWave Technology, a built-in Smart Sensor for real-time air quality monitoring, and automatic fan speed adjustment in Auto Mode. A dedicated Sleep Mode ensures quiet, energy-efficient operation during rest periods.

2. Important Safety Instructions

4. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your WINIX A230 Air Purifier:

  1. Unpack the Unit: Carefully remove the air purifier from its packaging.
  2. Remove Filter Packaging: Open the bottom cover of the unit and remove the plastic packaging from the all-in-one filter.
  3. Install Filter: Place the unwrapped filter back into the unit, ensuring it is seated correctly. Close the bottom cover securely.
  4. Placement: Place the air purifier on a stable, level surface, ensuring at least 6-12 inches of space around the unit for optimal airflow. Avoid placing it directly against walls or furniture.
  5. Connect Power: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.

  • Power Button: Turns the unit on or off.
  • Fan Speed Button: Cycles through manual fan speeds (Low, Medium, High).
  • Auto Mode Button: Activates Auto Mode, where the unit adjusts fan speed based on air quality.
  • Sleep Mode Button: Activates Sleep Mode for quiet operation and dimmed lights.
  • PlasmaWave Button: Turns PlasmaWave Technology on or off.
  • Filter Reset Button: Resets the filter replacement indicator after filter change.

Modes of Operation

  • Auto Mode: The Smart Sensor continuously monitors the air quality. The Air Quality Indicator light changes color (Blue: Good, Amber: Fair, Red: Poor) and the fan speed automatically adjusts to maintain optimal air quality.
  • Sleep Mode: When activated, the unit operates at its lowest fan speed and the control panel lights dim for an undisturbed sleeping environment. The unit can automatically enter Sleep Mode when the room darkens and return to Auto Mode when light is detected.
  • Manual Fan Speed: Allows you to manually select a fan speed (Low, Medium, High) regardless of the air quality.
  • PlasmaWave Technology: This feature creates hydroxyls to help reduce airborne pollutants. It can be turned on or off according to user preference.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your air purifier.

Filter Replacement

The Filter Replacement Indicator LED will illuminate when it is time to replace the all-in-one filter. Filter life varies based on usage and air quality, but typically lasts around 12 months.

  1. Unplug the air purifier from the power outlet.
  2. Turn the unit upside down and twist the bottom cover counter-clockwise to unlock and remove it.
  3. Remove the old all-in-one filter.
  4. Insert a new WINIX genuine all-in-one filter.
  5. Replace the bottom cover and twist clockwise to lock it.
  6. Plug the unit back in. With the unit powered on, press and hold the Filter Reset button for 5 seconds until the indicator light turns off.

Cleaning the Unit

  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Air Intake/Outlet: Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner attachment to remove dust from the air intake and outlet vents.
  • Smart Sensor: Gently clean the Smart Sensor opening with a cotton swab to ensure accurate readings.
