This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your CIARRA CAS52913E 20-inch Insert Range Hood. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the appliance and retain it for future reference. Proper installation and maintenance are crucial for optimal performance and safety.

Important Safety Information

Always follow basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons.

  • Electrical Shock Hazard: Only plug this unit into a properly earthed outlet. If you have doubts, seek advice from a suitably qualified engineer.
  • Accessible parts may become hot when used with cooking appliance.
  • Warning: Failure to install the screws or fixing device in accordance with these instructions may result in electrical hazards.
  • Range hoods and other cooking fume extractors may adversely affect the safe operation of appliances burning gas or other fuels (including those in other rooms) due to back flow of combustion gases. These gases can potentially result in carbon monoxide poisoning. After installation of a range hood or other cooking fume extractor, the operation of flued gas appliances should be tested by a competent person to ensure that back flow of combustion gases does not occur.
  • Ensure all controls and switches are off and the range hood is unplugged before cleaning or replacing lights.

Setup & Installation

This range hood is designed for ducted operation only, venting outside. It is not a ductless model.

Pre-Installation Checklist

  • Verify all included components: Range Hood, Installation Kit, Instruction Manual.
  • Tools required: Pencil, Hammer, Screwdriver, Level, Electric drill or powered screwdriver, Measuring tape.
  • Ensure the width of the cabinet is not less than 250mm and 50mm space is reserved at the two ends of the opening.
  • The cooker hood should be placed at a distance of 650-750mm above the cooktop for the best effect.
  • Before installation, turn the unit off and unplug it from the outlet.

Built-in Model Installation Steps

  1. Remove the aluminum filter.
  2. Remove the wooden strips on both sides of the hood by removing the screws that fix the strips.
  3. Insert the hood body into the cabinet.
  4. Place the wooden strip removed in step 2 on the upper surface of the cabinet bottom plate.
  5. Fix the hood onto the wooden strips with 4 pieces of ST5x16 screws (Provided).
  6. Install the aluminum filter.

Air Outlet Installation Method (Ducted Mode Only)

If you have an outlet to the outside, your cooker hood can be connected as pictured by means of a pipe (with an interior diameter of 150mm). If you don't have an outlet to the outside, you can go with recirculation mode by using a carbon filter (not included with this model).

  • For 150mm diameter pipe: Insert the one-way valve as shown in the picture and fix the pipe. The bump of the one-way-value must be upward.
  • For 120mm diameter pipe: Insert the damper as shown in the picture and fix the converter before placing the duct.
  • The pipe near the air outlet needs to be fully extended.

Operating Instructions

The CIARRA CAS52913E range hood features mechanical push-button controls for easy operation of the fan speeds and lighting.

Push Button Controls

  • Power Button (): Press to turn on or off the light.
  • High Speed Fan Button (⁂⁂⁂): Press to select the high fan speed.
  • Medium Speed Fan Button (⁂⁂): Press to select the medium fan speed.
  • Low Speed Fan Button (): Press to select the low fan speed.
  • Light Button (💡): Press to turn on or off the light.

Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and efficient operation of your range hood.

Regular Cleaning

  • Use a soft cloth moistened with hand-warm soapy water or household cleaning detergent.
  • Never use metal pads, chemical, abrasive material or stiff brush to clean the unit.
  • The 5-layer mesh filters are dishwasher safe and can be easily removed for cleaning.

Replacement of Light

The LED lights are replaceable. Follow these steps:

  1. Make sure all control switches are off and the range hood is unplugged.
  2. Use a flat head screwdriver to pop out the LED light assembly.
  3. Disconnect the lamp internal wires.
  4. Take out the old LED light.
  5. Replace with a new LED light assembly.
  6. Reconnect the internal wires, then push the light assembly back into the lamp hole.
  7. Re-plug the range hood and turn on the light switch to check all connections.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your range hood, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No power: Check if the unit is properly plugged into a functional outlet. Verify the circuit breaker.
  • Fan not working: Ensure the power is on and the fan speed is selected. Check for any obstructions in the fan or ductwork.
  • Poor suction: Clean the mesh filters. Ensure the ductwork is not blocked or kinked. Verify the one-way valve is correctly installed and not obstructed.
  • Excessive noise: Check if the filters are properly installed. Ensure there are no loose parts or obstructions in the fan. Verify the ductwork is securely connected.
  • Lights not working: Check if the light switch is on. Refer to the "Replacement of Light" section for bulb replacement.
