5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device (refer to Image 2).
- Slide the cover downwards to open the compartment.
- Insert one AAA battery, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Replace the battery compartment cover by sliding it upwards until it clicks into place.
5.2 Initial Power On
Upon battery installation, the device will power on automatically and display current temperature, humidity, and time. The default time and date may need to be set.
5.3 Placement
The HTC-1 can be placed on a flat surface using its fold-out stand or mounted on a wall using the hanging hole (refer to Image 3).
- For accurate readings, place the device away from direct heat sources (e.g., radiators, direct sunlight) or cold drafts (e.g., windows, air conditioners).
- Ensure good air circulation around the device.
- If using the external probe (if included), position the probe in the area where you wish to measure temperature, such as outdoors or inside an incubator.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Basic Display
The large LCD screen simultaneously displays:
- Temperature: In Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F).
- Humidity: As a percentage (%).
- Time: In 12-hour (AM/PM) or 24-hour format.
6.2 Setting Time and Date
- Press and hold the MODE button for approximately 3 seconds until the hour digit starts flashing.
- Press the ADJ button to adjust the hour.
- Press MODE again to move to the minute setting. Press ADJ to adjust minutes.
- Continue pressing MODE to cycle through year, month, and day settings, adjusting each with the ADJ button.
- After setting the day, press MODE one last time to exit setting mode.
6.3 Switching Temperature Units (°C/°F)
Locate the °C/°F switch on the back of the device. Slide the switch to your desired temperature unit.
6.4 MAX/MIN Temperature and Humidity Readings
The device records the maximum and minimum temperature and humidity values since the last reset.
- Press the MEMORY button once to display the maximum (MAX) temperature and humidity readings.
- Press MEMORY again to display the minimum (MIN) temperature and humidity readings.
- Press MEMORY a third time to return to the current readings display.
- To clear the MAX/MIN records, press and hold the MEMORY button for approximately 3 seconds while MAX or MIN values are displayed.
6.5 12/24 Hour Display
In normal time display mode, press the ADJ button to toggle between 12-hour (with AM/PM indicator) and 24-hour formats.
6.6 Integral-Hour Alarm Function
The device features an integral-hour alarm, which sounds a short beep at the top of every hour. To activate or deactivate this function:
- In normal time display mode, press the MODE button once to display the date.
- While the date is displayed, press the ADJ button. An alarm icon (often a bell) will appear or disappear, indicating the status of the integral-hour alarm.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
Wipe the device clean with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or immerse the device in water.
7.2 Battery Replacement
When the display becomes dim or erratic, it is time to replace the battery. Follow the steps in Section 5.1 for battery installation.
7.3 Storage
If the device will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery to prevent leakage and damage.
8. Troubleshooting
- No Display: Check battery polarity. Replace with a fresh AAA battery.
- Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the device is placed in a stable environment, away from direct heat/cold sources or strong drafts. Allow time for the device to stabilize in a new environment.
- Buttons Not Responding: Remove and reinsert the battery to perform a soft reset.
