1. Introduction

The AURSINC TinySA Spectrum Analyzer V0.3.1 is a portable, handheld frequency analyzer and signal generator designed for a wide range of applications. This device features a 2.8-inch touchscreen and is equipped with ESD protection for enhanced stability and longevity. It combines the functionality of a traditional heterodyne swept spectrum analyzer with a signal generator, making it a versatile tool for both hobbyists and professionals.

2. Package Contents

Upon unboxing your AURSINC TinySA Spectrum Analyzer, please ensure all the following items are present:

AURSINC TinySA Spectrum Analyzer and its included accessories: two RF cables, a USB-C cable, two SMA female-to-female connectors, a touchscreen pen, and an SMA telescopic antenna.

3. Setup

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the device using the supplied USB-C cable. The TinySA features two input ports for different frequency ranges:

Connect the appropriate antenna or RF cable to the desired input port based on the frequency range you intend to analyze or generate. The device is operated via its 2.8-inch resistive touchscreen using the included stylus or finger.

3.1 Initial Calibration

For accurate measurements, perform a level calibration. Connect the high and low SMA connectors using a small SMA cable (supplied). Navigate to the 'Config' menu and select 'Level Calibrate'. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the calibration process.

3.2 PC Control Setup

The TinySA can be controlled via a PC using the USB interface, which implements the Serial over USB (CDC) protocol. A Windows driver will automatically install upon connecting to a Windows PC. For Linux, the driver is built into the kernel. The TinySA-APP is available to control the device and capture its screen for more detailed analysis.

4. Operating Modes

The TinySA operates in various modes, functioning as both a spectrum analyzer and a signal generator. The device includes all components of a traditional heterodyne swept spectrum analyzer.

4.1 Spectrum Analyzer Mode

In this mode, the device displays frequency spectrums. It features switchable resolution bandpass filters for both ranges (2.6kHz to 640kHz). The color display shows 290 scan points covering up to the full low or high frequency range.

4.2 Signal Generator Mode

When not used as a spectrum analyzer, the TinySA can function as a signal generator:

A built-in calibration signal generator enables automatic self-test and low input calibration.

4.3 Input/Output Modes Overview

6.1 Firmware Updates and ESD Protection

The TinySA features hardware V0.3.1 with ESD protection, which improves stability, sensitivity, anti-static level, and longevity. The firmware can be updated for the newest versions; refer to the official TinySA website for details.
