- MEAS Button: Initiates measurement, confirms selection.
- Menu Button: Accesses measurement modes (Area, Volume, Pythagorean).
- + Button: Adds measurements.
- - Button: Subtracts measurements.
- Benchmark & Unit Switch Button: Changes measurement reference point (front/rear) and units (m/ft/in).
- Record Query & Setting Button: Views historical measurements and accesses settings.
- Power & Clear Button: Powers on/off, clears current measurement.
6.2 Basic Distance Measurement
- Press the Power & Clear button to turn on the device.
- Aim the laser at the target point.
- Press the MEAS button. The measured distance will be displayed on the screen.
6.3 Area Measurement
To measure the area of a surface:
- Press the Menu button until the Area icon (a square) appears on the display.
- Press MEAS to measure the first side (e.g., length).
- Press MEAS again to measure the second side (e.g., width).
- The device will automatically calculate and display the area.

6.5 Pythagorean Measurement
The Pythagorean mode allows indirect measurement of heights or distances using the Pythagorean theorem.
6.5.1 Direct Pythagorean Measurement (Single Pythagorean)
Used to calculate the height of an object when you can measure the hypotenuse and one leg of a right triangle.
- Press the Menu button until the single Pythagorean icon appears (a right triangle with the hypotenuse highlighted).
- Measure the hypotenuse (distance from the device to the top of the object).
- Measure the base (horizontal distance from the device to the bottom of the object).
- The device will calculate and display the height.

Image: A person using the NOYAFA NF-271 to perform a Pythagorean measurement, aiming the laser to calculate height. The display shows the measured hypotenuse and base, and the calculated height.
6.5.2 Secondary Pythagorean Measurement
Used for more complex height calculations, often when the base cannot be directly measured from the device's position.
- Press the Menu button until the secondary Pythagorean icon appears (two right triangles sharing a common leg).
- Measure the first hypotenuse (distance from device to top of object).
- Measure the second hypotenuse (distance from device to bottom of object).
- The device will calculate and display the height difference.
6.6 Unit Switching and Benchmark
- Press the Benchmark & Unit Switch button to cycle through measurement units (meters, feet, inches).
- Hold the Benchmark & Unit Switch button to change the measurement reference point (from the front or rear of the device).
6.7 Historical Record
The device stores recent measurements. Press the Record Query & Setting button to view previous readings.
