Front Panel Indicators

Side Panel

The side of the device features a WPS button for easy Wi-Fi Protected Setup.

Setup

1. Insert SIM Card

The Netcomm IFWA 40 uses a Nano SIM card. Locate the SIM card slot, typically found under the battery cover or in a dedicated tray. Carefully insert your activated Nano SIM card into the designated slot until it clicks into place.

2. Connect Power

Connect the provided AC power adapter to the Power port on the rear of the router and then plug the adapter into a wall outlet. The Power LED on the front panel should illuminate.

3. Power On the Device

Press the On/Off button on the rear panel to power on the router. Wait for the device to boot up. The Signal bars LED should eventually show signal strength, indicating a successful connection to the 4G LTE network.

4. Connect Devices

  • Wi-Fi: Locate the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password, usually found on a label on the bottom of the router. Connect your Wi-Fi enabled devices (phones, tablets, laptops) to this network. The router supports dual-band Wi-Fi and can connect up to 20 devices simultaneously.
  • Ethernet: For wired connections, connect an Ethernet cable from the LAN port on the router to your computer or other network device.
  • Phone: Connect analog phones to the Phone ports if you are using the voice service feature.

5. Access Control Panel

To manage settings, access the router's control panel by opening a web browser on a connected device and navigating to att.wirelessinternet or 192.168.0.1. Log in using the default credentials (usually found on the router's label or in the quick start guide).

Operating Instructions

Wi-Fi Connectivity

The router provides a robust Wi-Fi network. Ensure your devices are within range for optimal performance. The dual-band Wi-Fi allows for flexible connection options, with 10 devices per band for a total of 20 Wi-Fi connections.

WPS Function

For quick and secure Wi-Fi connections with WPS-compatible devices, press the WPS button on the side of the router, then activate WPS on your client device within two minutes.

Battery Backup

The Netcomm IFWA 40 includes a removable 3000mAh Li-ion battery. In the event of a power outage, the device can operate on battery power for up to 29 hours in standby mode and provide up to 180 minutes of active use time.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the router. Avoid using liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the router is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Do not block any ventilation openings.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the router's control panel for available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Battery Care: If the device is not used for extended periods, it is recommended to fully charge the battery and store it in a cool, dry place.

Troubleshooting

No Internet Connection

  • Check the Signal bars LED on the front panel. If no signal is present, try repositioning the router or connecting external antennas.
  • Ensure your Nano SIM card is properly inserted and activated with your service provider.
  • Verify that the router's power adapter is securely connected and the Power LED is on.
  • Restart the router by powering it off and then on again.

Wi-Fi Connection Issues

  • Ensure the Wi-Fi LED is illuminated.
  • Check that you are entering the correct Wi-Fi password (SSID and password are on the router's label).
  • Try moving closer to the router to improve signal strength.
  • If many devices are connected, try disconnecting some to see if performance improves.

Device Not Responding

  • If the router becomes unresponsive, press and hold the Reset button on the rear panel for about 10 seconds to restore factory default settings. Note: This will erase all custom settings, including Wi-Fi name and password.
