5.2 Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)
The UPS features Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR), which automatically corrects minor voltage fluctuations (sags and surges) without switching to battery power. This protects connected equipment from voltage irregularities and conserves battery life.
5.3 Power Outage Response
During a power outage, the UPS will automatically switch to battery power, providing continuous power to connected devices. The unit will emit an audible alarm to indicate it is operating on battery power. The duration of battery backup depends on the load connected.
5.4 LED Indicators and Alarms
The front panel LED indicates the operational status of the UPS. Refer to the full user manual for a detailed explanation of all LED states and audible alarms.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Battery Care
The internal battery is a sealed lead-acid type and is designed for a specific lifespan. Factors like ambient temperature and discharge frequency can affect battery life. It is recommended to perform a full discharge/recharge cycle every 3-6 months to calibrate the battery and ensure optimal performance.
6.2 Cleaning
Clean the exterior of the UPS with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners. Ensure ventilation openings are free from dust and debris.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| UPS does not turn on. | Battery not connected or discharged. | Ensure the battery connector is fully engaged. Plug the UPS into a wall outlet and allow it to charge for 8 hours. |
| UPS beeps continuously or frequently. | Operating on battery power, low battery, or overload. | If on battery, save work and shut down equipment. If low battery, allow to charge. If overloaded, reduce connected equipment. |
| Connected equipment loses power during an outage. | UPS battery is depleted or unit is overloaded. | Verify battery is fully charged. Reduce connected load to within UPS capacity. |
| UPS emits a burning smell. | New unit odor or internal component issue. | A slight odor is normal for new units and should dissipate. If the smell persists or is strong, disconnect the UPS and contact support. |
