Setup

1. Mounting the Controller

The X2 1401 is designed for outdoor installation. Choose a location that is easily accessible, close to the main water supply and power outlet, and protected from direct impact.

1. Use appropriate screws and anchors to securely mount the controller to a wall or sturdy surface.
2. Ensure the controller is level to prevent moisture accumulation.

2. Wiring the Controller

Before wiring, ensure the power supply to the controller is disconnected.

1. Connect the common wire (usually white) from your valves to the terminal marked 'C' (Common).
2. Connect each zone valve wire to its corresponding station terminal (1-14).
3. If using a master valve or pump start relay, connect its wire to the terminal marked 'MV' (Master Valve).
4. Connect the power supply according to local electrical codes.

3. Installing the Wi-Fi Wand (Optional)

The Wi-Fi Wand module (not included) enables smart features and remote control.

1. Locate the dedicated port for the Wi-Fi Wand on the side of the controller.
2. Carefully insert the Wi-Fi Wand into the port until it clicks into place.
3. Once installed, power on the controller. The display will indicate Wi-Fi status.

Operating Instructions

Manual Programming (Without Wi-Fi)

The X2 controller can be programmed directly using the rotary dial and buttons on the control panel.

1. Set Date/Time: Turn the dial to 'Date/Time' and use the arrow buttons to set the current date and time.
2. Set Start Times: Turn the dial to 'Start Times'. Select a program (A, B, or C) and set up to 4 start times for each program.
3. Set Run Times: Turn the dial to 'Run Times'. For each program, set the watering duration for each station (up to 6 hours).
4. Set Water Days: Turn the dial to 'Water Days'. Select specific days of the week, odd/even days, or interval watering.
5. Seasonal Adjust: Turn the dial to 'Seasonal Adjust' to globally increase or decrease watering durations by a percentage.
6. System Off: Turn the dial to 'System Off' to suspend all automatic watering.
7. Run: Turn the dial to 'Run' for automatic operation based on your programmed schedule.

Wi-Fi and Hydrawise App Operation (with Wi-Fi Wand)

Once the Wi-Fi Wand is installed and the controller is connected to your home network, you can manage it remotely using the Hydrawise app or web interface.

1. Download the Hydrawise App: Search for "Hydrawise" in your smartphone's app store or visit the Hydrawise website.
2. Create an Account: Follow the on-screen instructions to create a new Hydrawise account.
3. Add Controller: Use the app's setup wizard to connect your X2 controller to your Hydrawise account. This typically involves scanning a QR code or entering a serial number.
4. Configure Watering Plans: Within the Hydrawise app, you can create and modify watering schedules, utilize predictive watering based on local weather, and monitor system status in real-time.
5. Remote Control: Start, stop, or suspend watering for individual zones or the entire system from anywhere with an internet connection.

Maintenance

The Hunter X2 1401 controller requires minimal maintenance to ensure long-term performance.

• Cleaning: Periodically wipe the exterior of the controller with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Wiring Inspection: Annually inspect all wiring connections for corrosion or loose terminals. Ensure the casing is securely closed to protect internal components.
