5. Setup Guide

5.1 SIM Card Requirements

The ST-902 requires a 2G GSM SIM card with GPRS data capabilities. Ensure the SIM card has sufficient balance for SMS commands and data usage. 3G, 4G, or CDMA SIM cards are not supported.

5.2 SIM Card Preparation

  1. If your SIM card has a PIN code enabled, insert it into a mobile phone and disable the PIN code. The tracker cannot read SIM cards with active PIN codes.
  2. Ensure the SIM card is active and can make/receive calls and access mobile data.

5.3 Inserting the SIM Card

Locate the SIM card slot on the side of the ST-902 device. Insert the prepared 2G GSM SIM card into the slot with the metal contacts facing down and the notched corner oriented correctly. Push until it clicks into place.

5.4 Device Installation

The ST-902 is designed for simple plug-and-play installation. Locate your vehicle's OBD-II port, typically found under the dashboard on the driver's side. Simply plug the ST-902 device firmly into the OBD-II port. No wiring or additional tools are required.

5.5 Initial Configuration (APN and Server Settings)

Before using the online tracking platform, you must configure the device's APN (Access Point Name) and the platform server IP/port via SMS commands. This information is specific to your SIM card provider and the SinoTrack platform.

Common SMS Commands:

  • Set APN: Send SMS command: APN,your_APN_name# (e.g., APN,internet# for some providers)
  • Set APN User/Password (if required): Send SMS command: APNUSER,your_APN_username# and APNPASS,your_APN_password#
  • Set Server IP and Port: Send SMS command: SERVER,104.243.132.242,8000,0# (This is a common SinoTrack server, verify with SinoTrack support if different)
  • Check Device Status: Send SMS command: RCONF# (This will return the current configuration, including APN and server settings).

Note: Replace "your_APN_name", "your_APN_username", and "your_APN_password" with the actual details from your SIM card provider. The server IP and port should be confirmed with SinoTrack's official documentation or support.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Accessing the Tracking Platform

The SinoTrack ST-902 utilizes the official SinoTrack tracking platform, accessible via web browser or mobile application.

  • Web Platform: Visit www.sinotracker.com and log in using your device's ID (usually the IMEI number) and default password (often 123456, change after first login).
  • Mobile App: Download the "SinoTrack Pro" app from the Apple App Store (for iOS) or Google Play Store (for Android).

6.2 Real-Time Tracking

Once logged in, you can view the current location of your vehicle on the map. The device updates its position periodically, providing real-time tracking data.

The platform stores historical tracking data for up to 2 years. You can review past routes and activities by selecting a date range and playing back the route on the map.

The ST-902 supports various alerts to notify you of specific events:

8. Troubleshooting

  • GPS Signal: Ensure the vehicle is in an open area with clear sky view for optimal GPS signal reception. Underground parking or dense urban areas can affect accuracy.
  • Device Placement: While OBD-II is standard, ensure the device is not obstructed by metal or other materials that could block GPS signals.
History route playback is incomplete or missing.
  • Data Connectivity: Ensure the device had continuous GPRS data connectivity during the period in question.
  • Platform Sync: Allow some time for data to sync to the platform.
