Product Overview

Auriol Radio-Controlled Wall Clock with temperature and humidity displays

Image: Front view of the Auriol Radio-Controlled Wall Clock. The clock features a white face with large black numbers for hours, black minute and hour hands, and a red second hand. Below the center, there are two smaller dials: one on the left for humidity (labeled '% HUMIDITY') and one on the right for temperature (labeled 'TEMPERATURE °C °F'). A radio signal icon is visible near the 6 o'clock position. The clock has a silver-colored frame.

The Auriol Radio-Controlled Wall Clock combines classic analog time display with modern radio-controlled accuracy. It also integrates a hygrometer to measure humidity and a thermometer to measure temperature, providing comprehensive environmental information at a glance.

Setup

1. Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the clock.
  2. Insert one AA 1.5V battery (not included) according to the polarity markings (+ and -) inside the compartment.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2. Initial Synchronization (Radio Control)

After inserting the battery, the clock will automatically start searching for the DCF77 radio time signal. The hands will typically move to the 12 o'clock position and then begin to search for the signal. This process can take several minutes, or up to 24 hours in areas with weak reception.

  • Place the clock near a window, away from electronic devices that might cause interference (e.g., TVs, computers, microwaves).
  • Avoid placing the clock on metal surfaces.
  • Once the signal is received, the clock will automatically set itself to the correct time, including adjusting for Daylight Saving Time (DST).

3. Manual Time Setting (If Needed)

If the clock does not synchronize automatically after an extended period (e.g., 24 hours), or if you are in an area without DCF77 signal coverage, you may need to set the time manually. Look for a small button or wheel on the back of the clock, usually labeled "SET" or "M.SET".

  • Press and hold the manual setting button until the hands start to move.
  • Release the button when the hands reach the desired time. Some models require repeated short presses to advance the hands.
  • The clock will then resume searching for the radio signal. If it finds the signal, it will override the manual setting.

Operating the Clock

Time Display

The large analog hands display the current time (hours, minutes, seconds). The radio-controlled function ensures the time is always accurate and automatically adjusts for Daylight Saving Time.

Temperature Display

The smaller dial on the right side of the clock face indicates the ambient temperature. Readings are typically provided in both Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).

Humidity Display

The smaller dial on the left side of the clock face indicates the relative humidity in percentage (%).

Maintenance

Cleaning

Wipe the clock with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the surface.

Battery Replacement

When the clock hands stop moving or the time becomes inaccurate, it is time to replace the battery. Follow the battery installation steps in the "Setup" section.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Clock does not set time automatically.Weak or no radio signal; battery low or incorrectly inserted.
  • Relocate the clock closer to a window or away from interference sources.
  • Ensure battery is fresh and inserted with correct polarity.
  • Allow up to 24 hours for signal reception.
  • Try manual time setting if signal is consistently unavailable.
Time is incorrect.Interference during synchronization; clock was moved during synchronization.
  • Remove battery for 1 minute, then reinsert to force a new synchronization attempt.
  • Ensure stable placement during synchronization.
Humidity/Temperature readings seem inaccurate.Sensor obstruction; extreme environmental conditions; not calibrated.
  • Ensure the sensors (small dials) are not obstructed.
  • Allow the clock to acclimate to the room temperature for at least 30 minutes.
  • Note that these are general indicators and not precision instruments.
