5. Setup

5.1 Powering the Machine

Your sewing machine can be powered by either the AC/DC adapter or 4 AA batteries (not included).

  • AC/DC Adapter: Insert the adapter plug into the DC input jack on the machine and then plug the adapter into a wall outlet.
  • Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the machine and insert 4 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.

Note: Do not use both power sources simultaneously. Remove batteries when using the AC adapter.

5.2 Attaching the Extension Table

For larger projects or increased stability, attach the extension table:

  1. Locate the slots on the side of the sewing machine.
  2. Align the pegs on the extension table with these slots.
  3. Gently push the extension table until it clicks securely into place.

5.3 Initial Threading

The machine may come pre-threaded for testing purposes. If not, or if you need to re-thread, follow these steps:

  1. Upper Thread: Place a spool of thread on the spool pin. Guide the thread through the tension disc, then through the take-up lever, and finally down to the needle. Use the needle threader for easier threading through the needle eye.
  2. Lower Bobbin: Open the bobbin compartment cover. Insert a pre-wound bobbin, ensuring the thread unwinds in the correct direction (usually counter-clockwise). Pull the thread through the small slot.

Important: Ensure the upper and lower threads are pulled under the presser foot and towards the back of the machine before starting to sew.

6. Operation

6.1 Adjusting Thread Tension

The tension dial controls the tightness of the upper thread. Adjust it to achieve balanced stitches. A balanced stitch will have both threads meeting evenly between the fabric layers.

  • Turn the dial clockwise for tighter tension.
  • Turn the dial counter-clockwise for looser tension.

6.2 Selecting Speed

Use the speed button (L/H) to choose between low and high sewing speeds. Low speed is recommended for beginners or intricate work, while high speed is suitable for straight seams on larger projects.

6.3 Starting and Stopping Sewing

You can operate the machine using either the ON/OFF switch or the foot pedal.

  • Using ON/OFF Switch: Press the switch to turn the machine on and off.
  • Using Foot Pedal: Ensure the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position. Plug the foot pedal into its designated port. Press the foot pedal to start sewing and release to stop.

6.4 Using the Cuff Slot

The machine features a special cuff slot design, making it easier to sew sleeves, trouser legs, and other cylindrical items. Simply slide the fabric around the free arm of the machine.
