Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and to prevent damage to the needle or your turntable. Follow these steps carefully:
- Remove Old Stylus: Gently grasp the sides of the plastic stylus body of the old needle. Pull it forward and out of the cartridge.
- Install New Stylus: Reverse the removal procedure. Carefully align the new stylus with the cartridge and push it gently until it clicks securely into place.
- Caution: DO NOT handle the small, fragile tip portion of the stylus directly with your fingers. Always hold the plastic body.

Operating Instructions
Once the needle is installed, ensure your turntable is ready for playback:
- Balance Tonearm: Refer to your turntable's manual to properly balance the tonearm.
- Set Tracking Force: Adjust the tracking force to the recommended range of 1-3 grams for this needle. Incorrect tracking force can cause skipping or excessive record wear.
- Playback: Gently lower the tonearm onto the record using the cueing lever. Avoid dropping the tonearm directly onto the record.
- Lifting: Always use the cueing lever to lift the tonearm from the record when playback is complete or when changing sides.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance will prolong the life of your needle and ensure optimal sound quality:
- Stylus Cleaning: Use a soft, anti-static brush specifically designed for stylus cleaning. Brush gently from the back of the stylus towards the front (the direction of play). Never brush side-to-side or front-to-back.
- Record Cleaning: Keep your records clean and free of dust and debris. Dust on records can transfer to the stylus and degrade sound quality.
- Storage: When not in use, ensure the stylus guard is in place to protect the needle.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues, consider the following common solutions:
- No Sound or Distorted Sound:
- Ensure the needle is fully seated in the cartridge.
- Check all audio connections from the turntable to your amplifier/receiver.
- Verify the tracking force is set correctly.
- Clean the stylus tip.
- Skipping:
- Clean the record and the stylus.
- Re-check and adjust the tracking force.
- Ensure your turntable is placed on a level and stable surface.
- Excessive Hum:
- Verify the turntable's ground wire (if applicable) is properly connected.
- Move the turntable away from other electronic devices that might cause interference.
