General Installation Steps:
- Prepare Door: Ensure your door is between 1-3/8" and 1-3/4" thick, with an adjustable deadbolt backset from 2-1/8" to 2-3/4".
- Install Latch: Follow the instructions in Box 1 to install the latch into the door edge.
- Install Strike Plate: Attach the strike plate from Box 2 to the door frame.
- Install Exterior Assembly: Mount the exterior deadbolt assembly (with fingerprint sensor) to the door.
- Install Interior Mounting Plate: Secure the interior mounting plate from Box 3.

Maintenance
Battery Replacement
The Kwikset Halo Touch Smart Lock operates on 4 AA alkaline batteries. The Kwikset app will notify you when battery levels are low. To replace:
- Remove the interior cover of the lock.
- Carefully remove the battery pack.
- Replace all four AA batteries with new alkaline batteries.
- Reinsert the battery pack and secure the interior cover.
SmartKey Re-keying
The SmartKey Security feature allows you to re-key your lock to a new key in seconds, providing convenience and enhanced security if keys are lost or you move to a new home.
- Insert your functioning key fully and turn it 90 degrees clockwise.
- Insert the SmartKey Learn Tool fully into the SmartKey hole. Apply firm pressure and remove the tool.
- Remove your original key.
- Insert your new key fully and turn it 90 degrees counter-clockwise.
- Remove the new key. The lock is now re-keyed.
