Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your toaster.

  1. Always unplug the toaster from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Remove Crumb Tray: Pull out the removable crumb tray located at the bottom of the toaster. Empty crumbs and wipe the tray clean with a damp cloth. Reinsert the tray securely.
  3. Clean Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the toaster with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, metal scouring pads, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
  4. Clean Interior: Never insert metal objects into the toasting slots to clean. If food is stuck, unplug the toaster and carefully remove the food after it has cooled.
  5. Do not immerse the toaster in water or any other liquid.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your toaster, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Toaster does not turn on:
    • Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet.
    • Check your household circuit breaker or fuse box.
  • Toast does not pop up:
    • Ensure the toast lever is fully pressed down and locked into place at the start of the cycle.
    • If the lever does not stay down, the toaster may not be receiving power.
  • Toast is too light or too dark:
    • Adjust the browning control dial to a higher setting for darker toast or a lower setting for lighter toast.
    • Different types of bread may require different settings.
  • Smoke coming from toaster:
    • Unplug the toaster immediately.
    • This may be due to food particles or crumbs accumulating in the toaster. Clean the crumb tray and check the slots for any lodged food.

If the problem persists, please contact Keenstone customer support.
