4. Installation and Setup
This security light is designed for wall mounting. Ensure the mounting surface is stable and can support the weight of the fixture.
4.1 Mounting the Fixture
- Turn off power at the circuit breaker.
- Carefully remove the mounting bracket from the fixture.
- Mark and drill holes for the mounting bracket on the desired wall location.
- Secure the mounting bracket to the wall using appropriate screws and anchors.
- Connect the electrical wires (Live, Neutral, Earth) from your household wiring to the corresponding terminals on the fixture. Ensure all connections are secure and insulated.
- Attach the light fixture to the mounted bracket, ensuring it is securely fastened.
4.2 Adjusting Light Heads and Sensor
- The two LED light heads can be independently adjusted to direct illumination to your desired areas.
- The PIR motion sensor can also be angled to optimize its detection range and coverage. Aim it towards the area where motion detection is most critical.
4.3 Setting the Time Duration
The security light features a time adjustment dial, typically located on the underside or side of the sensor unit. This dial allows you to set how long the light remains on after motion is detected.

Figure 4.1: Close-up of the time adjustment dial, offering settings for 1 minute, 3 minutes, and 10 minutes, plus a 'TEST' mode.
Available settings:
- 1 MIN: Light stays on for approximately 1 minute.
- 3 MIN: Light stays on for approximately 3 minutes.
- 10 MIN: Light stays on for approximately 10 minutes.
- TEST: For initial setup and testing the sensor's range. In this mode, the light will turn on for a short period (e.g., a few seconds) each time motion is detected, regardless of ambient light.
Rotate the dial to select your preferred duration. The light will only activate at night when motion is detected and will deactivate during daylight hours.
5. Operation
Once installed and configured, the LUTEC security light operates automatically based on its motion sensor and ambient light conditions.
- During daylight hours, the light will remain off, conserving energy.
- As dusk approaches and ambient light levels drop, the sensor becomes active.
- When motion is detected within the sensor's range (up to 49ft and 110° angle), the LED lights will illuminate for the pre-set duration (1, 3, or 10 minutes).
- If motion continues to be detected, the light will remain on or re-trigger, extending the illumination period.
6. Maintenance
The LUTEC LED Security Light requires minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the fixture with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the power is off before cleaning.
- LEDs: The LED units are integrated and designed for long life. They are not user-replaceable.
- Sensor: Keep the motion sensor lens clean and free from obstructions (e.g., spiderwebs, leaves) to ensure optimal performance.
