3. Setup

3.1 Charging the Device

The EM1 features a built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery. Before first use, fully charge the device. A full charge typically takes approximately 4 hours and provides up to 12 hours of continuous use. The device can also be used while charging.

• Connect the provided USB-A to USB-C charging cable to the DC 5V port on the EM1.
• Connect the other end of the cable to a standard USB-A wall charger (5V, 1A or above). Note: Some modern USB-C to USB-C chargers may not be compatible without a proper handshake protocol; using a USB-A wall charger is recommended.
• The LED indicator will show charging status. It typically glows blue when powered on and may turn red when the battery is low.

3.2 Connecting Audio Sources and Headphones

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

Locate the power switch on the side of the EM1. Slide the switch to the 'ON' position to power on the device. The LED indicator will illuminate blue. To power off, slide the switch to the 'OFF' position.

4.2 Adjusting Volume

Use the large rotary 'VOL' knob on the top of the device to adjust the headphone output volume. Turn clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Start with a low volume and gradually increase to a comfortable listening level to prevent hearing damage.

4.3 Stereo/Mono Switch

The EM1 features a Stereo/Mono source switch. Select 'Stereo' for a full stereo image or 'Mono' if your audio source is mono or if you prefer a mono mix for monitoring.

5. Maintenance

5.1 General Care

• Keep the device clean and free from dust and moisture. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.

• Check the Stereo/Mono switch setting.

6.2 Device Not Charging

• Ensure the charging cable is securely connected to both the EM1 and the power adapter.
• Use the included USB-A to USB-C cable and a standard USB-A wall charger (DC 5V, 1A or above). Some USB-C to USB-C chargers may not be compatible.
• Try a different USB-A wall charger or USB port to rule out a faulty power source.
• If the LED indicator is red, it signifies a low battery state. Allow sufficient time for charging.

6.3 Audio Clipping or Distortion

• Reduce the input gain from your audio source to the EM1. Overdriving the input can cause distortion.
• Lower the volume on the EM1.
• Ensure your headphones are compatible with the amplifier's output and are not being overdriven.
