Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Franke S2D 620 Onyx Tectonite Double Bowl Kitchen Sink. Please read these instructions carefully before installation and use to ensure proper function and longevity of your product.
Safety Instructions
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and eye protection during installation.
- Ensure all plumbing connections are secure and watertight to prevent leaks.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals on the sink surface, as this may damage the Tectonite material.
- Avoid dropping heavy or sharp objects into the sink, which could cause chipping or cracking.
- If you are unsure about any installation steps, consult a qualified professional plumber.
Setup and Installation
The Franke S2D 620 sink is designed for flush-mounted installation. Proper preparation of the countertop is crucial for a secure and functional setup.
Required Tools and Materials
- Jigsaw or appropriate cutting tool for countertop material
- Sealant (silicone-based recommended)
- Measuring tape and pencil
- Drill
- Screwdriver
- Adjustable wrench
- Safety glasses and gloves
Countertop Preparation
The minimum width of the substructure required is 800 mm. The cut-out dimensions for the countertop are 844 x 484 mm. It is recommended to create the cut-out after receiving the sink to ensure precise fitting.

Sink Placement and Sealing
- Carefully place the sink into the prepared countertop cut-out to check for fit.
- Apply a continuous bead of sealant around the perimeter of the cut-out on the underside of the countertop, or directly to the sink flange, as per sealant manufacturer instructions.
- Lower the sink into the opening, ensuring it is properly aligned.
- Secure the sink using the provided mounting clips, tightening them evenly to create a watertight seal.
- Wipe away any excess sealant immediately.
Drain Assembly
The sink features a 3 1/2" drain size. Install the drain assemblies into both bowls according to the manufacturer's instructions for the specific drain components. Ensure all connections are tightened securely to prevent leaks.

Operating Instructions
The Franke S2D 620 is a standard double bowl kitchen sink designed for everyday kitchen tasks. Its Tectonite material offers durability and resistance to common kitchen wear.
- Use the sink for washing dishes, preparing food, and other general kitchen activities.
- The double bowl design allows for multi-tasking, such as washing in one bowl and rinsing in the other.
- Ensure the drain strainers are in place to prevent food particles from entering the plumbing system.
Maintenance and Care
Proper care will help maintain the appearance and extend the life of your Tectonite sink.
Daily Cleaning
- After each use, rinse the sink thoroughly with clean water to remove any food residues or cleaning agents.
- Wipe the sink dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots and limescale buildup, especially in hard water areas.
- For general cleaning, use a mild dish soap and a soft sponge or cloth.
Stain Removal
- For stubborn stains, a non-abrasive liquid cleaner specifically designed for composite sinks can be used. Follow the product manufacturer's instructions.
- Avoid leaving tea bags, coffee grounds, or other staining agents in the sink for extended periods.
- Do not use abrasive scouring pads, wire brushes, or harsh chemical cleaners (e.g., bleach, oven cleaner, drain cleaners containing strong acids or alkalis) as these can damage the Tectonite surface.
Preventing Damage
- Avoid placing hot pots or pans directly into the sink. While Tectonite is heat resistant, extreme thermal shock can potentially cause damage over time. Use a trivet or protective mat.
- Do not cut directly on the sink surface. Always use a cutting board.
- Be cautious with heavy or sharp objects to prevent chipping or scratching.
Troubleshooting
Slow Drainage
- Cause: Clogged drain or P-trap.
- Solution: Remove the drain strainer and clear any visible debris. If the clog persists, a plumbing snake or a chemical drain cleaner (used sparingly and according to instructions for composite sinks) may be necessary. Consult a plumber if the issue continues.
Water Spots/Limescale
- Cause: Hard water deposits.
- Solution: Regularly wipe the sink dry after use. For existing spots, use a solution of white vinegar and water (1:1 ratio) or a limescale remover safe for composite sinks. Apply, let sit for a few minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
Surface Scratches
- Cause: Abrasive contact with sharp objects.
- Solution: Tectonite is highly scratch-resistant, but not scratch-proof. Minor surface marks may be reduced with a non-abrasive cleaner and gentle scrubbing. Deeper scratches may require professional attention or may be permanent.
