Setup
- Battery Installation:
Locate the battery compartment on the rear panel (Figure 4). Insert the BP-272 Li-ion battery pack, ensuring it clicks securely into place. The battery is included and required for portable operation.
- Antenna Connection:
Connect your appropriate antenna to the BNC type Antenna connector on the left side panel (Figure 2). Ensure the connection is secure before powering on the unit.
- Speaker-Microphone Connection:
Plug the HM-243 Speaker-Microphone into the SP/MIC connector on the left side panel (Figure 2).
- External Power (Optional):
For 10W output power or extended operation, connect the DC Power Cable to a 13.8VDC external power supply and then to the DC power jack on the right side panel (Figure 3).
- Initial Power On:
Press and hold the power button located on the front panel to turn on the transceiver. The display will illuminate, indicating the unit is ready for operation.

Frequency Selection and Tuning
