2. Safety Information
Your YEMA YM-829 helmet is designed to provide protection in accordance with DOT standards. Always wear a properly fitted and fastened helmet when riding. Helmets are designed for a single impact; if your helmet sustains an impact, it must be replaced immediately, even if visible damage is not apparent.
- Ensure the helmet fits snugly and the chin strap is securely fastened.
- Never modify your helmet. Modifications can compromise its protective capabilities.
- Avoid exposing the helmet to petroleum products, cleaning fluids, paints, or adhesives, as these can damage the helmet materials and reduce its protective capacity.
- Always keep the clear outer shield clean for optimal visibility.

4. Setup and Adjustment
4.1. Helmet Fit
A helmet must fit snugly to provide effective protection. To check the fit:
- Place the helmet on your head, ensuring it sits level.
- Fasten the chin strap securely.
- Hold the helmet firmly and try to rotate it from side to side and front to back. If the helmet slides easily, it is too large. The skin on your head should move with the helmet.
- Ensure there are no pressure points that cause discomfort.
4.2. Chin Strap Adjustment
The quick-release buckle allows for easy adjustment. Thread the strap through the buckle and pull until it is snug under your chin. Ensure two fingers can fit between the strap and your chin, but no more.

4.3. Visor Removal and Installation
To remove the clear outer visor for cleaning or replacement:
- Open the visor fully.
- Locate the release mechanism on each side of the visor base.
- Press the release button or lever and gently pull the visor away from the helmet.
- Repeat for the other side.
To install, align the visor tabs with the slots on the helmet's visor base and press firmly until you hear a click, indicating it is securely locked. Test the visor movement to ensure proper installation.

5. Operation
5.1. Dual Visor System
The helmet features two visors:
- Outer Clear Shield: This primary visor provides protection from wind, debris, and impacts. It is wear, scratch, and impact resistant.
- Inner Retractable Smoked Sun Visor: This visor can be deployed to reduce glare from sunlight. It is tinted and sun resistant.
To operate the inner sun visor, use the switch located on the side of the helmet. Slide the switch to lower or raise the sun visor as needed.

5.2. Ventilation System
The YM-829 features an adjustable ventilation system to manage airflow and comfort. This includes closable air intakes, exhaust outlets, and a chin vent.
- Air Intakes: Located on the top and front of the helmet, these can be opened or closed to allow fresh air in.
- Exhaust Outlets: Positioned at the rear, these allow warm, moist air to exit the helmet.
- Chin Vent: Provides airflow to the face and helps reduce visor fogging.
Adjust the sliders on the vents to control the amount of airflow.

6. Maintenance
6.1. Cleaning the Helmet Shell
Clean the helmet shell with a soft cloth, warm water, and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the finish and materials.
6.2. Cleaning the Visors
Remove the clear outer shield and inner sun visor (if removable) before cleaning. Use warm water and a soft microfiber cloth. For stubborn dirt, soak the visor in warm water for a few minutes before gently wiping. Do not use abrasive materials or chemical cleaners.
6.3. Cleaning the Inner Lining
The inner lining is removable and washable. Gently detach the padding from the helmet. Hand wash with mild soap and cool water, or machine wash on a delicate cycle in a mesh laundry bag. Air dry completely before re-installing. Ensure all components are dry to prevent mildew.

7. Sizing Guide
To determine your correct helmet size, measure the circumference of your head. Use a measuring tape and wrap it around your head at the widest point, approximately one inch above your eyebrows. Refer to the table below for corresponding sizes. If you are between sizes or prefer a slightly looser fit, consider sizing up.

Figure 7.1: Head measurement guide for helmet sizing.
| Brand Size | Head Circumference (in) | Head Circumference (cm) |
|---|---|---|
| S | 21.6 - 22 | 55 - 56 |
| M | 22.4 - 22.8 | 57 - 58 |
| L | 23.2 - 23.6 | 59 - 60 |
| XL | 24 - 24.4 | 61 - 62 |
| 2XL | 24.8 - 25.2 | 63 - 64 |
8. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your helmet.
- Visor Fogging: Ensure the chin vent is open to allow airflow. In cold or humid conditions, slight opening of the clear visor may be necessary.
- Helmet Feels Too Tight/Loose: Re-check your head measurement against the sizing guide. A helmet that is too tight can cause discomfort, while one that is too loose compromises safety.
- Chin Strap Discomfort: Ensure the strap is adjusted correctly, snug but not overly tight. The quick-release buckle should sit comfortably under your chin.
- Noise While Riding: Ensure all vents are properly closed if you desire less airflow and noise. A snug fit also helps reduce wind noise.
