Setup

  1. Unpack the Clips: Carefully remove the temperature control clips from their packaging.
  2. Inspect for Damage: Before use, visually inspect each clip and its cable for any signs of damage. Do not use if damaged.
  3. Connect to Compatible Device: Plug the connector of the temperature control clip cable into the appropriate Type-K thermocouple input port on your AUTOOL LM110, LM120, LM120+, LM150, LM160 refrigerant table, or other compatible multimeter/thermometer. Ensure a secure connection.
  4. Prepare for Measurement: Ensure the pipe or surface you intend to measure is clean and free of debris to ensure optimal thermal contact.

Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to accurately measure temperature using the AUTOOL temperature control clips:

  1. Power On Device: Turn on your compatible AUTOOL refrigerant table or measurement device.
  2. Select Temperature Mode: If applicable, set your measurement device to the appropriate temperature measurement mode (e.g., Type-K thermocouple).
  3. Attach the Clip: Open the jaws of the temperature control clip by squeezing the handles. Carefully position the clip onto the pipe or surface you wish to measure. Release the handles to allow the spring-loaded jaws to firmly grip the pipe. Ensure the sensor pads make full contact with the surface for accurate readings.
  4. Read Measurement: Observe the temperature reading displayed on your connected device. Allow a few moments for the reading to stabilize.
  5. Remove the Clip: Once the measurement is complete, squeeze the handles to release the clip from the pipe.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance will ensure the longevity and accuracy of your AUTOOL temperature control clips.

  • Cleaning: After each use, wipe the sensor pads and the body of the clip with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, but ensure the device is completely dry before storage or next use. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the clips in a clean, dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid tangling the cables.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the cables for fraying or damage, and the clamping mechanism for proper function.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Inaccurate or fluctuating readingsPoor contact with pipe; dirty sensor pads; incompatible device settings.Ensure firm and full contact of sensor pads with the pipe. Clean sensor pads. Verify your measurement device is set to Type-K thermocouple mode.
No reading on deviceLoose connection; damaged cable/clip; device not powered on or in correct mode.Check cable connection to the measurement device. Inspect cable and clip for visible damage. Ensure measurement device is powered on and in the correct input mode.
Clip does not grip pipe firmlyPipe diameter too large; spring mechanism issue.Ensure pipe diameter is within the 0.35-inch limit. If the spring mechanism is faulty, the clip may need replacement.
