Setup Instructions

Assembly is straightforward and requires no tools. Follow these steps to set up your telescope:

1. Tripod Setup

  • Unfold the tripod legs and extend them to your desired height (adjustable from 16 to 45 inches). Secure the leg locks.
  • Adjust the tripod head for horizontal (360°) and vertical (180°) movement using the control lever.

Video: Demonstrates tripod adjustment and movement.

2. Telescope Tube Installation

  • Align the mounting plate on the telescope tube with the screw on the tripod head.
  • Rotate the knob on the tripod head to securely fasten the telescope tube.

Video: Shows how to attach the telescope tube to the tripod.

3. Finder Scope Installation

  • Remove the protective caps from the finder scope.
  • Slide the finder scope bracket onto the designated slot on the telescope tube.
  • Tighten the screws on the bracket to secure the finder scope.

Video: Illustrates the installation of the finder scope.

4. Diagonal Mirror Installation

  • Unscrew the cap from the focuser end of the telescope tube.
  • Insert the diagonal mirror into the focuser. Tighten the small screw on the focuser to hold it in place.

Video: Demonstrates how to install the diagonal mirror.

5. Eyepiece and Barlow Lens Installation

  • Insert the desired eyepiece (H20mm for lower magnification, H6mm for higher magnification) into the diagonal mirror. Secure it with the small screw.
  • For even higher magnification, first insert the 3X Barlow lens into the diagonal mirror, then insert the eyepiece into the Barlow lens.

Video: Shows the installation of eyepieces and the Barlow lens.

6. Moon Filter Installation

  • The moon filter screws into the bottom of the eyepiece.
  • Use the moon filter to reduce the brightness of the moon for more comfortable and detailed viewing.

Video: Demonstrates how to attach the moon filter to an eyepiece.

7. Smartphone Adapter and Wireless Remote Setup

  • Attach the smartphone adapter to an eyepiece. Ensure your phone's camera lens is aligned with the eyepiece.
  • Turn on the wireless remote shutter and pair it with your smartphone via Bluetooth.
  • Use the remote to capture photos or videos through the telescope without causing vibrations.

Operating Instructions

1. Focusing

  • Point the telescope towards a distant object (e.g., a tree or building during the day).
  • Look through the eyepiece and slowly rotate the focus knob until the image is clear and sharp.

2. Using the Finder Scope

  • The finder scope has a wider field of view than the main telescope, making it easier to locate objects.
  • First, align the finder scope: point the main telescope at a distant, easily identifiable object. Look through the finder scope and adjust its alignment screws until the object is centered in the finder scope's crosshairs.
  • Once aligned, use the finder scope to locate your desired object, then look through the main telescope's eyepiece for a magnified view.

3. Observing with Eyepieces

  • Start with the H20mm eyepiece (lower magnification) to get a wider field of view and easily locate objects.
  • Once the object is centered and focused with the H20mm eyepiece, you can switch to the H6mm eyepiece (higher magnification) for a more detailed view.
  • For maximum magnification, use the 3X Barlow lens in combination with either eyepiece.

4. Day and Night Use

  • Daytime: Suitable for birdwatching, viewing distant landscapes, and environmental monitoring.
  • Nighttime: Ideal for observing the moon, planets, and brighter deep-sky objects.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning Lenses: Use a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for optics. Gently wipe the lens surface. For stubborn smudges, use a small amount of lens cleaning fluid on the cloth, not directly on the lens.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the telescope in its carry bag in a dry, dust-free environment. Keep all caps on the lenses and openings.
  • Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Do not expose the telescope to extreme heat or cold, as this can affect its performance and longevity.
  • Moisture: If the telescope is exposed to moisture, allow it to air dry completely before storing.

Troubleshooting

Problem: Image is blurry or out of focus.
Solution: Rotate the focus knob slowly until the image becomes sharp. Ensure you are using the correct eyepiece for the desired magnification.
Problem: Cannot find objects easily.
Solution: Ensure the finder scope is properly aligned with the main telescope. Start with the lowest magnification eyepiece (H20mm) to get a wider field of view.
Problem: Image is dim or unclear.
Solution: Ensure the objective lens cap is fully removed. Observe in an area with minimal light pollution for astronomical viewing. The 70mm aperture is designed for brighter objects like the Moon and planets; fainter deep-sky objects may be challenging.
Problem: Telescope is unstable or shaky.
Solution: Ensure the tripod legs are fully extended and locked, and placed on a firm, level surface. Tighten all knobs and screws on the tripod and telescope tube. Avoid touching the telescope during observation to minimize vibrations.
Problem: Smartphone adapter is difficult to align or use.
Solution: Ensure your phone is securely clamped in the adapter. Adjust the adapter's position carefully to align your phone's camera lens precisely with the eyepiece. Use the wireless remote to trigger the shutter to prevent camera shake.
