3. Setup Guide

3.1 Package Contents

Verify that all components are present in the package:

  • Imou 2K (3MP) Outdoor WiFi Surveillance Camera
  • Power Adapter (3m cable)
  • Mounting Template

  • Quick Start Guide

3.2 Before Installation

  1. Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4 GHz. 5 GHz networks are not supported.
  2. Download the Imou Life app from your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
  3. Create an Imou account and log in.
  4. Power on the camera and wait for the indicator light to flash green, indicating it's ready for setup.

3.3 Camera Installation

The camera is designed for wall mounting. Choose a location with a clear view and strong 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal.

  1. Use the mounting template to mark the screw positions on the wall.
  2. Drill holes and insert wall anchors if necessary.
  3. Secure the camera base to the wall using the provided screws.
  4. Connect the power adapter to the camera and plug it into a power outlet. Use the waterproof connector for outdoor power connections.
  5. Adjust the camera angle as needed.

3.4 Connecting to Wi-Fi

  1. Open the Imou Life app.
  2. Tap the '+' icon in the top right corner to add a new device.
  3. Scan the QR code located on the camera or its packaging.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the camera to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
  5. Once connected, the camera's indicator light will turn solid green.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Live View and Playback

  • Open the Imou Life app and select your camera to view the live feed.
  • Use the on-screen controls to pan, tilt, and zoom the camera.
  • Access recorded footage via the playback option. You can filter by date and event type.

4.2 Motion Detection and Alarms

  • In the app settings, enable AI Person Detection and Smart Tracking.
  • Configure detection zones and sensitivity levels to minimize false alarms.
  • Enable sound and light alarms for active deterrence.
  • Receive instant notifications on your smartphone when motion or a person is detected.

4.3 Storage Management

  • Micro SD Card: Insert a Micro SD card (up to 256GB) into the designated slot for local storage. Ensure the camera is powered off before inserting or removing the card.
  • Cloud Storage: Utilize Imou Protect cloud storage for secure, off-site recording. A 30-day free trial is typically available.
  • NVR: Connect the camera to a compatible Network Video Recorder (NVR) using Onvif or RTSP protocols for continuous recording.

4.4 Privacy Mode and Zones

6. Troubleshooting
