Fossil BQ2163 Rhett Men's Chronograph Watch User Manual

Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Fossil BQ2163 Rhett Men's Chronograph Watch. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your timepiece. Please read these instructions carefully to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your watch.

The Fossil BQ2163 Rhett is an analog watch featuring a durable stainless steel case, a comfortable brown leather strap, and a distinctive blue dial. It is powered by a precise quartz movement and includes a chronograph function for timing events, along with a date display. The watch is water-resistant up to 50 meters (5 ATM).

Setup

1. Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove your watch from its packaging. Inspect the watch for any visible damage. Ensure all protective films are removed from the crystal and case back.

2. Setting the Time

  1. Pull the crown (the knob on the side of the watch) out to position 2 (the outermost position).
  2. Rotate the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to move the hour and minute hands to the correct time.
  3. Once the time is set, push the crown back into position 0 (the innermost position) to start the watch.

3. Setting the Date

  1. Pull the crown out to position 1 (the middle position).
  2. Rotate the crown to adjust the date. It is recommended to set the date to the day before the current date.
  3. Then, pull the crown out to position 2 and advance the time past midnight until the correct date appears. Continue to set the correct time. This ensures the date changes at midnight, not noon.
  4. Push the crown back into position 0.

Operating the Chronograph

Your Fossil Rhett watch is equipped with a chronograph (stopwatch) function, controlled by the two pushers located on either side of the crown.

1. Starting and Stopping the Chronograph

  1. Press the top pusher (A) to start the chronograph. The chronograph second hand will begin to move.
  2. Press the top pusher (A) again to stop the chronograph. The elapsed time will be displayed on the sub-dials.

2. Resetting the Chronograph

  1. After stopping the chronograph, press the bottom pusher (B) to reset all chronograph hands to their zero positions.

3. Understanding the Sub-dials

  • Small Seconds Sub-dial: Typically located at the 6 o'clock position, this hand continuously tracks the running seconds of the main time.
  • Chronograph Minute Sub-dial: Usually at the 9 o'clock position, this sub-dial records the elapsed minutes during chronograph operation.
  • 24-Hour Sub-dial: Often at the 3 o'clock position, this sub-dial displays the time in a 24-hour format, synchronized with the main time.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning Your Watch

To maintain the appearance of your watch, wipe the case and crystal with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. For the leather strap, avoid excessive moisture and harsh chemicals. If the strap gets wet, allow it to air dry naturally.

2. Water Resistance

Your Fossil BQ2163 Rhett watch is water-resistant up to 5 ATM (50 meters). This means it is suitable for short periods of recreational swimming. It is not suitable for diving, snorkeling, or high-impact water sports. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water. Avoid exposing the watch to hot water, as this can compromise the seals.

3. Battery Replacement

The watch is powered by a quartz movement, which requires a battery. When the watch stops or the second hand begins to jump erratically (indicating a low battery), it is time for a battery replacement. We recommend having the battery replaced by a qualified watch technician to ensure the water resistance is maintained and to prevent damage to the movement.

Troubleshooting

  • Watch Not Running: Ensure the crown is fully pushed into position 0. If the watch still does not run, the battery may need replacement.
  • Date Not Changing: Check if the time is set correctly for AM/PM. The date typically changes around midnight. If the date changes at noon, you need to advance the time by 12 hours.
  • Chronograph Hands Not Resetting to Zero: If the chronograph hands do not return to their zero positions after pressing the reset pusher, consult a professional watch repair service.
  • Condensation Under Crystal: If you notice condensation inside the watch, this indicates a breach in the water resistance. Have the watch inspected by a professional immediately to prevent further damage.
